Cos - hideous or not?

I'm not really a Cos shopper but got a pretty dress there today which has pockets! Now thinking have I been duped into getting it as are all the clothes there actually shapeless and hideous?....anyone else like it there?

Which dress did you get eesha?

thornyhousewife · 13/06/2018 18:04

I love Cos, great fabrics and understated design.

I'm short and chunky.

FishFingerInjury · 13/06/2018 18:21

I love it there too. Their basic t-shirts are brilliant. The denim is great. I just generally love it.

I’d love to shop from Toast but don’t have the budget so Cos serves me well.

The kids clothes are also brilliant and I have bits that have lasted 3 hand me downsZ

I have a jumper with slightly puffed, rouched (?) 40s style sleeves and it is so flattering

Atalune · 13/06/2018 21:30

The dresses all look like maternity wear. Shock

Ellapaella · 13/06/2018 22:01

I would love to see real people in cos clothes. I'm a bit fascinated by it because it all looks so shapeless and dull on the website but yet so many people on here swear by them and I do appreciate clean, simple lines on clothing that hangs well. The models just don't really sell the clothes to me though, there isn't a store anywhere near me and no one I know buys there. If I could see what real people look like wearing cos it might persuade me to buy.
I have been very tempted by some of the knitwear before.

BangingOn · 13/06/2018 22:09

I’m a size 16 hourglass and return 90% of what I order from Cos, but the odd pieces that do suit me are some of my favourite things in my wardrobe.

TigerDroveAgain · 13/06/2018 22:14

I’m really rather fat - about a size 20 and apple shaped Shock. I have several COS dresses for work and a parka style light mac. I love their stuff. It’s for work only, I wouldn’t wear it outside of work apart from a sort of cocktail frock. I always feel smart enough and comfortable, plus it’s quite cool. Can you tell I’m a fan?

Knittedfairies · 13/06/2018 22:17

The model doesn’t look too thrilled to be wearing it..

friendlyflicka · 13/06/2018 22:23

I like the fabrics - especially the poplin. The shirt dresses are boring but look good on me. I am small with no bust. But the interesting things are definitely not my style. I like their shops - the way things are arranged in colour.

shiklah · 13/06/2018 22:26

I have just ordered loads in the sale. I often end up sending more back than I keep but I love the fabrics - I've ordered a silk dress that looks so comfy!

shiklah · 13/06/2018 22:27

AlbertaSimmons - I love that jumpsuit!

Ellapaella · 13/06/2018 22:33

I see there are only two stores north of Birmingham (Leeds and a small concession in a department store in Manchester).
This really irritates me.
I live in Newcastle, one of the biggest cities in the north of England with a vibrant high street/city centre and the Metro Centre Mall which pulls shoppers in from miles around.
I wonder why they feel that their target market lies predominantly in the south??

MrsEricBana · 13/06/2018 22:36

I LOVE the black and the green cocoon dresses but sadly don't fit my shape.

AgentCooper · 13/06/2018 22:43

I'm a busty hourglass and most of it makes me look like Demis Roussos but occasionally I'll get something that just works - usually a dress or knitwear. The quality is so, so lovely.

Ellapaella, we've got a lovely big branch in Glasgow.

LunaTheCat · 13/06/2018 23:57

I am short, 12-14 and busty and I love cos - they have just opened in Liverpool.😀

Paranormalbouquet · 14/06/2018 08:33

I’ve found some lovely things in cos. I look for things structured at shoulders/sleeves which hang nicely. I’m an hourglass, and short so have to really look but some of the clothes are fantastic.

I’m 13 weeks pregnant and keen to keep it quiet a while at work so plan a trip to cos again soon!

Ellapaella · 14/06/2018 11:08

Well good to hear they've spread their wings up north a bit. Although Glasgow, Liverpool and Manchester are still a long way from Newcastle. Maybe they'll eventually branch out to the North East.

CountFosco · 14/06/2018 19:06

Eesha, I love the dress you bought, love the back detail. I've said before and I'll say it again, COS are like an anti-Hush. If that dress were sold by Hush they'd put that smiley tanned model in it and we'd all be rushing to buy it, even though the fabric wouldn't be as good quality. But COS do fantastic fabric but use unhappy looking models and we all think it's terrible. The models are so tall and flatchested I think the clothes often look better on a more average body.

Succulentest · 14/06/2018 19:49

Agree with some pp — I might try on 20 things for every one I buy, but the occasional thing is gorgeous. (5 ft 6 with bosoms and ass). Some stuff actually looks better on curvier bodies than on the Cos models, I think. I have four or five dresses from there, and a few tops. I did buy a pair of trousers last year, but they were a mistake.

It somewhere I would never buy anything from without trying on, though.

shiklah · 14/06/2018 19:58

My order arrived today and I love it all...... ooopps

500BusStops · 14/06/2018 21:20

OP I have that dress and agree it looks far more flattering on than the photo. I think the model is wearing a size too big so it looks tent like. I'm pear shaped and found this quite a flattering cut

Eesha · 14/06/2018 22:54

@500BusStops yes totally agree. I'm definitely going to give their clothes a chance going forward
