Gradual tanners makes me look dirty! Suggestions?

I know there have been a lot of threads about fake tan, but I haven´t seen this specific problem.

I´m a redhead and tend to redness on my chest and arms and I want to see if a fake tan would improve how it looks.

All gradual tanners make me look like a need a good wash, including many I have seen recommended here as great for pale skin.

I am not sure if there is a real difference between a gradual tanner and a fake tan but if there is, is there a fake tan you think I should try?

Thanks for the replies. I can´t believe I was so terrified in the shower abut turning some really horrible colour ... and then nothing happened!

Horrific Ginger? yikes! How?

I shall try it again, although I have to say it seems to have really dried out my skin. Anyone else find that?

Will persist and then try another if no good.

The best gradual tanner is the Palmers cocoa butter one. It’s like a light fake tan from first use.
I must be ghostly white because the St Tropez worked on me first time!

Get you theonlyalatheia - you´re n the mumsnet swears by newsletter!

I have used the St Tropez in shower tanner 4 times over 5 days now and it is very subtle but also very natural. I am pleased and it is doing a good job of covering the redness. I wish I had tried earlier.

I might try some others now aswell now I am not so afraid.

Thanks everyone.

I loved the St Tropez 3 minute shower stuff. (I’m strawberry blonde with fair skin). I’ve recently started using their 1 minute pre shower cream. Takes a few applications to get some colour but it is honestly the best most natural looking tanner I’ve used and so convenient. Minimal smell too and no orange sheets. It’s got poor reviews on the Boots website but I think mainly because people are expecting instant results. An alternative if like me you find the 3 min wait a bit chilly!

Ok. Thanks I shall try it next. The wait is a bit annoying.
