What is everyone finding good and what does everyone need? This prolonged spell of nice weather has exposed major gaps in my summer wardrobe, I don’t think I got out of opaques for work last year, in fact, I don’t think we’ve had a decent summer since I had children.

I’m currently loving my lotta clogs and my green “que sera” tshirt from hush but in need of more casual shirts and some smartish summer work tops.

@cheapskatemum my favourite way to do it too! No need to worry about covered shoulders or the hemline police, plus you can keep your pumps cold in the river! How about a jumpsuit? Pretty and cool but good for boat-climbing shenanigans! Or a midi-length cotton type sundress so you're it worrying about flashing your knickers! Could look lovely with flat sandals for comfort too.

cheapskatemum · 10/06/2018 12:05

@MsHippo Thanks! Both great ideas as it'll be easy to add a layer or two when if it gets colder as the evening wears on.

What are you planning to wear? I can PM you the name of the boat if you think you'll be there on 8th, so you can check out if I used your suggestions or not.

MsHippo · 10/06/2018 12:14

I have a knee length navy/white gingham dress with a circle skirt and halter neck, and I will add a blue ballet-wrap cardie if it's chilly. I'm thinking flat silver sandals, massive sunglasses, bright red lippy. I have a standby outfit of a black brodrie anglaise below the knee dress with a round neck, fitted bodice to the waist and below the knee slightly gathered skirt which I can wear with a white/black textured chanel style jacket if someone happens to offer me free enclosure tickets. Same accessories and of course always a big cup of pimms in hand!

MsHippo · 10/06/2018 12:16

@cheapskatemum haha in my last post I meant pimms not pumps!! Anyway, let me know what you you're thinking if you see anything you like!

cheapskatemum · 10/06/2018 12:23

I was wondering about the cold pumps, but concluded it must be a boating term I wasn't familiar with, not being a boat owner!!

Your dresses sound lovely! I will keep you posted.

Alas cheap I think patterned and fitted around my bottom and thighs is too much though I think they’d look lovely on other people. Hence sounds fun, presumably something cotton, knee length? Or long? How much do you want to spend?

I got this skirt today and I love it. It looks good for casual wear with white pumps and my flip flops and nice with a heel for dressed up but ideally I would like a more versatile shoe to go with it. I was thinking maybe some wedges? Do you think any of the below would look okay with it or anyone got any ideas for other style shoes?

I love that skirt, Ellapaella. Can I ask where it's from? Lovely denim jacket, too.

Ellapaella · 11/06/2018 22:12

Thanks Florence - skirt is from Hush and denim jacket from Next. Do you think the skirt would work with some wedges similar to those in the pic?

taybert · 11/06/2018 22:14

Oo, it's lovely Ella is it from hush? I saw it in green but it's sold out and I don't think that colour would suit me. My current favourite shoes are these clogs do you think something like that could work? Or too clumpy?

OP posts:
FlorenceLyons · 11/06/2018 22:21

I wondered if it was the Hush one, but it looks nicer on you than it does on the model. I have their Monaco trousers in that colour and wear them loads.

I think it would look good with the wedges, and maybe also with some simple, plainish trainers?

Ellapaella · 11/06/2018 22:23

Yes I've got some white superga that go well. Thanks, it's a tricky colour to match with wedges, they'll need to be very neutral.

Ellapaella · 11/06/2018 22:25

@taybert ooh yes I love those clogs! Do you have them? Do you know if they are any good for wide feet? I have huge wide spade feet, hard to find shoes that fit well.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/06/2018 22:32

Ella - the skirt looks gorgeous. How does the fabric seem? I've looked at it several times in store, but feared it might crush horribly.

I've just bought this playsuit. I'm old (late 40s) and quite fat now (14) but I wore it out for a walk the other day, with a white cotton cardigan over it, and managed not to scare any small children.

Ellapaella · 11/06/2018 22:47

I love that play suit @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie.
I'm not really a skirt wearer but this hangs really well and seems to flatter in all the right places. Admittedly I'm a bit nervous about running round with the DC in it, also a bit nervous about washing it so I'll have to report back on that. I think it'll end up being something I wear out for drinks/lunch/dinner etc rather than everyday wear.

taybert · 12/06/2018 06:50

@ellapaella, I’ve got the clogs and I have fairly wide feet. They feel a bit snug out of the box but the leather is quite soft and stretches as you wear them- they tell you to wear them with socks in the house if they feel tight.
The playsuit is lovely Remus and I often admire them on other people but I’m not sure I can pull one off. I’ve been looking at them more recently though, the sun must have gone to my head!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/06/2018 17:28

I wouldn't wear it without a jacket or cardigan over in the UK, except in the garden! I'll probably wear it abroad in the summer though. It's very comfortable and the wide legs make my thighs (which used to be beautifully slim but are no longer) look reasonably okay in comparison - definitely more flattering than tight shorts.

Will look at the Hush skirt again and try it on, if I can find it. The colour is so beautiful.

This skirt caught my eye the other day too. It's a gorgeous colour and 100% cotton. I haven't tried it on though - some full skirts can work and some are a disaster; unsure which camp this one falls into!

Alicatz66 · 12/06/2018 17:32

I've discovered Vita Liberata Fabulous gradual tan .... best one I've tried .. often on offer on "Look Fantastic"

taybert · 13/06/2018 12:04

I’vd seen a few nice things on the Tu website- anyone any idea when they’re likely to have their 25% off thing (I’m sure I must have missed a few, damn rural living!) Just weighing up if it’s worth waiting or I should just buy before things sell out.

macnab · 13/06/2018 12:49

Oooh I love that skirt Ellapaella, can I ask where is the black top from? I think it looks really good with that black top and to me is definitely more a 'going out for lunch' skirt than just wearing to run around after the DC!

Ellapaella · 13/06/2018 13:45

@macnab it's from H & M last year. Got the same one in a dark burgundy colour. They are great, go with scything and we're cheap as chips! About £12.99 I think.

macnab · 13/06/2018 14:03

Thanks, I'll go google it!

Ellapaella · 13/06/2018 14:10

Sorry for typos! I'm sure my iPhone autocorrects everything after I've read it..

I bought this jumpsuit recently uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_1,mon_1.7/4450071353 and love it. I also bought this denim jacket after finally accepting that my old one no longer fits! www.bravissimo.com/products/denim-jacket-denim-pc175den/

Bought this today. It’s really pretty. www.anthropologie.com/en-gb/shop/romina-scarf-printed-top?category=tops&color=069
