Sliders? New word for old fashioned mules!

They make me think of institution-bound client groups

We all used to wear similar things called slides though. So maybe the name and the exact shape make the difference?

I can't stand them, refuse to do them, wore them in the 90's when I had time to slop around.
I do like the ones BoomBoom linked to below though.

My dad used to wear Dr Scholl sandals in the 80's that look similar to the adidas sliders that are so fashionable now.

He also used to wear them with socks, and my mum used to cringe when he went outside and talked to the neighbours in them.

Oh and what is this weird fashion of wearing them with socks?? It looks crap.

Wearing them with sports socks is a nod to their sporting heritage

They are worn when you take off your sports shoes

I like "sliders" as I've just found out they are called.

To me, they're just flipflops but without the "toe-post" which gives me the creeps.

I have these which I bought for holiday and they are so comfy I keep wearing them.i wear them with shorts or folded up jeans.

These are mine, from Next. So comfy, I love them.

Sliders to me are the plastic pool shoes, and the fashion take on these.

I got a pair from Primark to wear when we go away this week, as a comfier alternative to flip flops. I would wear them poolside and around the house, not sure I would wear them as an actual pair of shoes though.

I think it's a bit ugh seeing the rubber ones worn with socks, as seems so fashionable right now. You'll see armies of tough-looking teenagers loitering, and the whole lot of them will be attired like that! It's only a matter of time before one slider has "I love" written on it, and the other says "my socks". I wonder if their sliders would stay on if they needed to run away quickly, or if they'd all have Cinderella moments?

Mind you, my own summer footwear of choice is usually trainers without socks, or Red or Dead shoes (also sockless) which I know some find equally disturbing...

I got these Skecher sliders at the weekend. It's like having a party on my feet.

According to the how to look expensive thread.... if you happen to give a fuck...they are a no-no ....the blingier the better i say. Make sure to have brightly painted toenails

I'm so relieved they exist as I can't wear flip flops, they make my toes hurt so much!

Wouldn't be up for fluffy ones though, or ones with anything longer than a trainer sock...
