Does the mumsnet hair cut work if you already have a fringe

My hair is almost elbow length and full of split ends. Desperately need a hair cut but cashflow is low right now.

I've looked up the mumsnet cut but from what i can understand, it gives you a fringe. I already have one and am fine with trimming it but don't want to accidentally cut in a new one above!

Would I be better plaiting it and snipping off the split ends? My hair is fine but i have loads of it and it's fairly curly although the length is dragging it down so more wavy now.

It's only a short term measure until i have enough pennies to visit the hairdresser!

Take a look on YouTube how to cut your own length. I sometimes take an inch of my length without doing the 'unicorn' ponytail cut. There are loads of videos and it's very easy. You have hair like mine by the sounds of it!
