I'm on a mission to try to find some sandals like I had in the 80s

I am trying (and failing) to find some everyday sandals like the ones that everyone had at my Nottingham school in the mid 80s. I was talking to my friend about them and she remembered them too.

They were very flat, had a fairly wide leather band across the foot at the toe end, an half enclosed heel and ankle strap. Made of leather and most people had blue or red.

I was thinking about these the other day and wondered if there is anything similar around? Looking on Ebay and vintage sites hasn't brought anything up for me.

Do you know the style I mean? I'd post a picture if I could find one.

And on a separate nots, I loved the look of the shoes that Oprah wore to the Royal Wedding - any idea what they were?

Thanks, I'm a bit clueless when it comes to fashion!

Saltwaters?

BarbieBrightSide · 22/05/2018 11:09

Thanks JTC, but those are a bit fussy at the front for me.

These sandals had one wide band across the foot, and an enclosed heel, which with the monstrous heels I've got now would be a godsend!

Not suggesting you want these but are they the right sort of shape if the front just had one strap?

CremeDeSudo · 22/05/2018 13:38

Do you mean like these but with an enclosed heel?

We're they a bit like Majorca shoes?

BarbieBrightSide · 22/05/2018 16:17

Thank you all for looking. The asos ones are close, the clarks look comfy and after a few goes with Footner I might get a pair, however..

The la redoute ones are almost identical to the ones I had, I'm just about to order some!

I'd never heard of Majorca shoes, but they look comfy too. I'm going to end up a proper Imelda Marcos at this rate.

Thank you!

Anything like these? I was around in the 80s but they obviously weren't popular in Cardiff

I know exactly the ones you mean. I had some white ones for a while and then dyed them dark blue. I don't remember seeing them in red, but that would have been nice too.

The La Redoute ones look almost exactly as I remember them - I would have said the ankle strap was a bit thinner, but it was so long ago I can't be sure.

Yay my first S&B success! Knew my shopping addiction would pay off eventually! Smile

BarbieBrightSide · 22/05/2018 16:58

I agree Drama - the ankle strap a bit thinner and the foot band slightly wider and a teeny bit shaped. But the LaRedoute ones are very close to what I had. I just hope I'm not disappointed when they arrive!

Clark’s playdeck crepe soles? I can’t link to Pinterest.

Thanks Creme
