Fit-flops - so comfy but are they stylish enough to wear on hols?

Thinking of a fairly inoffensive black toe-post pair. I'm mid-40s but don't want to look frumpy! I think my clothes are ok (have followed the 'how to look expensive' thread and various holiday wardrobe ones!) so I don't want to ruin my efforts by wearing FitFlops if it's a real style faux pas.

So, all you style gurus, can I get the FitFlops or do I need to give my head a wobble?

Unless you can find an alternative that is equally comfy I think comfort should come first if you are going to be walking around. It would be sad if your holiday was blighted by sore feet in on trend sandals. Holidays are precious and by the sounds of it your clothes are going to look great which is what most people will see when you walk past.

On the beach or pool it's fine. Otherwise get some nice comfortable sandals.

There's nothing worse than having uncomfortable shoes when walking around all day. I have some sandals which are basically Birkenstocks with an espadrille flatform. They are really comfortable look a bit ugly but I love them. Will be wearing them a lot when I'm on holiday next month.

I just bought these fitflops which seem to follow “the rules” on the expensive summer dressing thread

They're gorgeous MrsPeacock!

To be fair, I don't intend to be particularly active on holiday, my walking will mostly involve strolling to shop in the morning for fresh bread and wandering along the promenade occasionally! I'm mostly thinking of what to wear on my feet when out for meals at night.
I'm still undecided...

MrsPeacockDidIt

I wouldn't call that flipflops. They have heel straps.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 21/05/2018 20:27

I have the toe post fitflops with the diamante. I think the bit of sparkle is pretty and nice for a holiday and they are so comfy, which is massively important on holiday. You do need to break in even toe post fitflops do get them sooner rather than later. Blisters and sore feet will ruin your holiday.

MrsPeacockDidIt · 21/05/2018 21:36

But they are FitFlops Lweji Smile

MrsPeacockDidIt · 21/05/2018 21:38

I bought these ones last year and while not exactly stylish they are so so comfy.

I'd be more tempted to go for the gold or silver. They look lighter and brighter, for happy feet. (I may just live in gold fitflops)

Lweji · 21/05/2018 21:52

Ahhhh, sorry, didn't realise FitFlops were a thing. Grin

Lweji · 21/05/2018 21:54

Actually, looking up, Fitflops are a brand, not a style.

PurpleCrowbar · 21/05/2018 21:56

Honestly?

I don't go on holiday to worry about my shoes! I do that at work (smart enough, comfortable enough).

When I'm on holiday I rather enjoy wearing whatever I damn well like.

I've got some fitflops & they're ok, but my birkenstocks are more comfortable.

Liz38 · 21/05/2018 22:00

I have this every year! And every year I wear the fit flops... they aren't beautiful but they are so comfortable. And my feet are so ugly that they don't look good in anything that actually shows them so it's a bit of a waste to prioritise looks above comfort for me.
