I need some help.....I've got three afternoon tea's coming up over the next few months and I'd love to buy the perfect dress to see me through them all! My budget is up to 150 pounds, I'm a pear-shaped, 5f 3 girl in my late 30's. I've recently lost half a stone and am a size 10...although am not sure how I'll keep the weight off with all these afternoon teas! Thanks for your help!

Way below your maximum they have several on the site so it may be worth looking, they're a lot better made than the price would suggest

Slightly above your limit but I recently got this:
www.tedbaker.com/uk/Womens/Clothing/Dresses/KLOSS-Crane-print-shirt-dress-Teal/p/142402-TEAL-BLUE

I'm same height as you and the length is still flattering on me. I got a 10 but it's actually a bit stretchy so I could have sized down (but I'm pretty flat up top!)

RosinaAlmaviva · 16/05/2018 19:17

Jersey tea dress I just bought the blue version and I love it.

Ava tea dress Personally if I had your budget I would go for this one, but lots of other options on this site.

Sleeveless polka dots

Yellow striped shirt dress

If you'd consider a pencil dress, this and this are in the sale at Karen Millen.

RosinaAlmaviva · 16/05/2018 19:22

Oh and this at Lady V.

GrannyGrissle · 16/05/2018 19:25

I'd go for a silk Kath Kidston and possibly a Lindy Bop Ophelia too for variety.

buddy79 · 16/05/2018 20:01

Some nice silk ones in this website:

Love this www.jaeger.co.uk/empire-line-midi-dress-ba360b, in fact there's a few I'd buy

I bought this Jigsaw dress from John Lewis at the weekend.

It's lighter than it appears in the pics.

I'm wearing it on Sat with white Converse. It's lovely.

House of Foxy are perfect for afternoon tea style dresses. Lovely quality too www.houseoffoxy.com

Ifonlyiweretaller · 17/05/2018 10:55

Aaagh. I loved that dress @RosinaAlmaviva so have just ordered it...along with rather too many other items! When I went to payment page they all showed 20% off which was a bonus Grin

welshmist · 17/05/2018 12:49

Aint mumsnet wonderful Smile

RosinaAlmaviva · 18/05/2018 00:28

@Ifonlyiweretaller ooh which one?!?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 18/05/2018 00:31

Marking place because there’s a brand I want to recommend but can’t remember the name of (and too tired to get up and look in my wardrobe now!). Kind of vintage-y, online only from House of Fraser.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 18/05/2018 10:14

@RosinaAlmaviva I bought the blue jersey tea dress from Crew that you linked to - along with a blazer, some trousers, jeans and a top!! I've never shopped at Crew before but liked what I saw and the reviews say quality is generally really good. Lets see how much of it I keep though Grin

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 18/05/2018 10:18

Jolie Moi was the brand I’m thinking of — just be careful to check the materials. Some are cheaper fabrics than others.

RosinaAlmaviva · 18/05/2018 18:10

@Ifonlyiweretaller hope you like it all! The dress is good quality. The material is thick, hemline hangs evenly and it has washed well. Very versatile style too. So far I've worn it for a birthday party, two work events and an afternoon in the park.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 19/05/2018 10:43

@RosinaAlmaviva I love it! Bought it in the blue and am wearing with a red cardi (very patriotic) for a Royal Wedding tea party today! Also kept a couple of other things - some striped espadrilles and a striped blazer...

Oldraver · 19/05/2018 11:15

I have this Yumi dress and it's lovely on. I am 5'5 and it comes to just above the knee on me.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 19/05/2018 20:41

@Oldraver I have a couple of Yumi dresses, and 3 of their cardigans. i'm sure I'm not their target market as a 56 year old... but who cares!

Oldraver · 19/05/2018 23:09

I'm 53 Grin

RosinaAlmaviva · 20/05/2018 19:19

@Ifonly sounds very appropriate! Hope you had a lovely tea party. Smile

Ifonlyiweretaller · 20/05/2018 20:17

Thanks@Rosina - we had a great time, far too much of the fizzy stuff but it was such a lovely day,. I'm going to order the red version of the dress too - it was just so easy to wear!

Icequeen01 · 20/05/2018 21:22

I saw this pop up on my FB last week and they have some lovely dresses. Haven't bought myself anything yet as hoping to lose some weight but will be giving them a try in the future.

There is a whole section on tea dresses. Hope the link works - I'm a bit of a technophobe!
