Do you likethis bag? or do you have any great suggestions? I am giving up my cheap new look handbag habit.

If you have a House of Fraser go there. Lots & lots of lovely leather bags.

DeviousDaffodil · 17/05/2007 20:12

River Isalnd have lovley leather handbags reasonably priced. As do Debenhams.
You can get Jasper Conran ther for £50 +.

tombley · 17/05/2007 20:12

Closet one closed down last year, mostly due to it not having had a face lift since it was built in the 30's.
So window shopping has become a thing of the past - would now require a round trip of 100 miles!
Which brands do you like? Fashion handbags seem to be about the price of a second hand car nowadays and the cheaper stuff is never mentioned in the magazines.

btw like the Boden one.

tombley · 17/05/2007 20:14

Hello DeviousDaffodil again!
Think Debenhams have a sale on so will have a look there. Have you bought one from there before? Whats the quality like?

I like the Boden one too. Have you got a Gap - they often do great bags.
Or TK Maxx?

DeviousDaffodil · 17/05/2007 20:17

I bought a jasper conran one about 3 yrs ago it has lasted well and is relaly good quality.
I don't think you neeed to pay more that 50 - 60 quid for a good leather bag if you shop around.
Try Principles and marks too, they have good 'designer' lookalikes.

hatwoman · 17/05/2007 20:18

I quite like it - but it's a bit boring. you can get jazzier versions and the same quality, (imho having never touched a Boden handbag....), from Accessorize for half the price. But if I was going to spend £100 on a handbad I wouldn;t spend it on Boden. I;d go and touch and feel some in a decent dept store. I fell in love with several the otehr day, but decided I couldn;t justify it...

JackieNo · 17/05/2007 20:19

Monsoon have some nice looking ones.

tombley · 17/05/2007 20:20

Where? where? Hatwoman?
Btw DH is spending £100 on a handbag for me for my birthday. As I said I have been a New Look woman for the past motherly years.

Quite like this one , also this .

hatwoman · 17/05/2007 20:21

link{http://www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/98918920\this one is similar to the boden one but just with a subtle bit of jazziness}

tombley · 17/05/2007 20:22

like this

OP posts:
hatwoman · 17/05/2007 20:22

try again

hatwoman · 17/05/2007 20:24

I like JackieNo's second one. I was in Bentall's in Kingston when I found several I liked - but the ones I really liked weren;t this type, they were patterned ones, kind of keira watsername, except nicer. The best had a white background - so utterly inpractical. I can;t remember the name

tombley · 17/05/2007 20:25

Tis nice Hatwoman and half the price!
Any ideas about quality of monsoon/accessorize bags?
jackieno - Like the lighter brown better than the darker.
I am pleasantly surprised by the prices.

I have a small green leather shoulder bag from Accessorize - I bought it about 3-4 years ago and it is a wee bit tatty now, but only from lack of care of the leather - the seams and lining are perfectly in tact. lots of people compliment me on it. even a friend's husband who is so not the kind of person to notice handbags. and lots of people say it looks more expensive than it is. the leather is very nice and soft.

hoxtonchick · 17/05/2007 20:29

do you meant orla kiely hat? she does lovely bags (i have um, 4, of hers i think ).

hatwoman · 17/05/2007 20:32

I do indeed hc - well spotted. at least I managed to stop myself from saying Cierra Knightley...

but the actual bags I looked at were, imho, even better than Orla - they were more wall-papery - flowers and birds - but not twee - not like Cath Kidston

tombley · 17/05/2007 20:36

really like the style of this but want it in leather

OP posts:
hatwoman · 17/05/2007 20:37

yes, tis very nice

tombley · 17/05/2007 20:40

this is lovely but OMG the price!

OP posts:
hoxtonchick · 17/05/2007 20:44

they sound lush hat. i really like kimchi bags which have very unusual patterns on them.

brandnewhelsy · 17/05/2007 23:54

well, if it's handbag porn you're after...

CoffeeCrazedMama · 18/05/2007 09:59

I am a big fan of coccinelle - the branch in the King's Rd had a 50% off sale in January and I am hoping they will do the same in July! Also Furla have gorgeous bags - if you don't want anything too big you could get something there for about £120. Also have good sales. Both are beautiful Italian quality that will last you for years.
