Please help me find a (non traditional) dress to wear to my wedding

My OH and I are planning a very small wedding. We’re not having many of the traditional wedding things, but I would still like to look lovely!

I would love to find a dress that I can wear again, especially to a fairly casual party that we’re going to a few days later.

I would love something full length (I think!), not too high around the neck, perhaps floaty, that will look pretty for the ceremony but that isn’t a traditional wedding dress. I’d consider most colours. I’m early thirties, quite tall and a size 12-14. In an absolutely ideal world the tops of my arms would be covered and it wouldn’t be a synthetic material! I’d love something that isn’t an “occasion” dress (wedding / bridesmaid/ prom type thing)

Can any of you amazing style hunters help me to find something?

It’s quite hard to find upper arm coverage in a full length dress isn’t it? How about this cheerful yellow Anthropologie one? www.anthropologie.com/en-gb/shop/farm-rio-marketplace-wrap-dress?category=dress-shop&color=079

What’s your budget? Temperley London have several stunners that might fit the bill, but they are £££, like this one:
array_push($items, array($this->translate('Audience'), '/analytics/audience'));

How are we doing op? Any of these heading in the right direction?

FauxFox · 15/05/2018 12:41

pink and mint print

Wow! I went away and came back to all of this! Amazing - thank you all so much!

It was daft of me not to include a budget, wasn’t it? Ideally I don’t want to push much above £100. This really is starting to feel like an impossible task!

Some of those suggestions are gorgeous. I wouldn’t wear any of the ones that sit around the neck unfortunately. Cuts like that make me feel quite claustrophobic and don’t flatter me either.

Hang on, let me pick a couple of favourites...

That French Connection one is an absolute dream - although I don’t think my legs above the knee would do it justice (and it’s more than I want to spend).

Both the Ted Baker options are lovely. The red one was more what I had imagined. The Karen Millen one is also lovely, although more dressy than I wanted.

Thank you all for being so generous with your time - you’ve found some lovely pieces!

Go to Oxfam's wedding dress website. There could be something on there.

LOVE this from ASOS!

Love that one Fox.

FauxFox · 15/05/2018 17:44

Hope that worked! If not search on price and ASOS as the brand and maxi length and you should find it Grin

ISpeakJive · 15/05/2018 17:49

Doesn’t look like your size is available, OP...
