I've been using Estee Lauder Ideal Matte and now that it's almost empty I was thinking of trying something cheaper (I'm a SAHM now, so not a lot of money ), does anyone have any recommendations?

Are ther cheaper ones any good?

I'm a bad person to ask as I favour Clinque Gentle Light Makeup, which isn't cheap either.

Could you switch to tinted moisturiser for every day and save foundation for special occasions?

JackieNo · 17/05/2007 15:53

I'm quite liking this at the moment, though it's not necessarily the cheapest either. But you can often get vouchers for money off in Boots, or use Boots points to buy it.

I like the virgin vie stuff and their face base works well as an all in one foundation/powder.

I used to be a fan of clinique, it isn't just money that stopped me buying it, I just didn't feel it was that great, after using it for 8 yrs I just stopped, I haven't found a rplacement I am loyal to yet, my latest at £8 something, is bourgeois(chanel makeu-p is made in the same factory I have read) 10 hr sleep effect - I bought it yesterday, it has a good texture, I find cheaper foundations don't seem to last as well, so I am still considering going for a more expensive brand

archiesmummy · 17/05/2007 16:09

MrsBadger, I haven't found a tinted moisturiser that looks natural on me. I quite like bourgeois make up, so might have a look at their foundation

I'd heard that re Bourjois too - interesting - and I'd certainly try something that made me look like I'd had 10 hours sleep...

(but I wear foundation max once a month so it'll be a while before I need to go shopping for more)

Lily-lolo mineral make-up. Fab coverage if a bit fiddly to use. Cheaper than shop bought foundation as well.

Aefondkiss · 17/05/2007 16:13

well I am not sure it actually does what it says on the tin, tomorrow, when I apply I will do a small survey... I never get more than 7 hrs, and with my mn addiction it is more like 6 now.

DeviousDaffodil · 17/05/2007 16:13

I would second the Boots foundation.

Chirpygirl · 17/05/2007 16:15

I use this it's a tinted moisturiser and concealer, and yes, I am an avon lady but that doesn't mean it's no good!

MrsApron · 17/05/2007 16:15

snap kite flying I love it.

Chirpygirl · 17/05/2007 16:16

Bugger, that didn't work, it's called Face Perfecting Duo Tinted Moisturiser and Concealer and I also use Perfect Wear Foundation SPF10 when I need a 'proper foundation

isaidno · 17/05/2007 16:20

I like Boots rewind here

It's not really cheap, but it is on 3 for 2 at the moment (good excuse to buy 2 other things...)

cupcakesgalore · 17/05/2007 16:21

I usu. use Clinique but have had to go cheaper and tried a No. 7 one - esp. good value when they do those £5 off vouchers in Boots. Anyway, was perfectly good.
