Super hydrating moisturiser

I have combination skin, prone to eczema in the dry areas and really sensitive. I'm also very pale. Yes, I really lucked out in the skin genetic department. Hmm

I've recently hit 40, and I'm finding the moisturisers I used to use aren't really going into my skin any more. They just seem to sit on the top, leaving the sore, dry areas untouched. My skin looks like it is very dry, too - I have my fair share of age-related lines, but also lots of small, fine lines that aren't age so much as a scream for moisture.

Things I've used in the past that no longer work:

  • Nivea blue
  • Nivea soft touch
  • Skin Drink from Lush
  • Lacura range from Aldi (too harsh these days)

Please can someone help!

I have rosacea and use cetaphil moisturising lotion and the cream (in a tube) when my skin needs more hydration. It's much richer but gets absorbed well (also swear by the cleanser)

Nuxe 48 hour cream. I've tried embryolisse, boots no 7, nothing worked until I got a sample for Nuxe. It is perfumed though but never irritates my skin.

It might be worth purchasing some Hyaluronic acid +b5 from The ordinary. It's under a tenner, and despite what the name suggests it's not an acid that burns your skin- it's meant to put that layer of water back and help your skin retain water, which will help anything else.

I've got super sensitive skin and rosacea, it doesn't cause any problems at all. You use a few drops after cleansing and it wears in very quickly, so you can carry on with your routine.

I'd avoid Nivea tbh it's always exacerbated my dry patches. I use cleansing pads with glycolic acid (aldi one) then Lush Imperialis. Very rich, very natural, lovely dewy finish.
