Amazing charity shop haul today - the result of bank holiday clear outs?!

Popped into my local charity shops today.

Normally they are full of H&M, M&S, supermarket own brands, Primark etc at relatively high prices with a few rare bargains.

But today I could not believe my luck!

Today I got:

Shop 1:
Whistles jacket £7
Whistles jumper £5.50

Shop 2:
French Connection top £6
Tiger of Sweden silk top £7
Jigsaw top £6

Shop 3:
Whistles silk top £8.50
Whistles silk top (another) £7
Whistles top £7.50
Warehouse top £3.50
Cos top £4
Fat Face shorts £3.50

Grand total £65.50 and supported some great charities.

I’m quite shocked at my luck. Could this be the result of bank holiday clear-outs?!

I manage a charity shop and was at work Sunday Monday and Tuesday. Each day we had the equivalent of 30 bin bags of donations. From what I have sorted so far we have some nice stuff- Laura Ashley Abercrombie and Fitch white stuff monsoon etc as well as high quality baby stuff.

Givemethebiggestslice · 09/05/2018 17:15

Swampy is that more than usual? Do you think there’s been a bank holiday boost as people clear out wardrobes ready for summer?

I'm utterly jealous. Lucky you! The silk top sounds lovely. Can you post a pic of your haul? I just took a big haul down for a donation to the RPSCA charity shop. Gonna take another load down to the Wildlife Ambulance service one this week.

poppyinbloom · 09/05/2018 17:29

Oh I just realized you got not one but 3 silk tops. gives you evils

What a great haul! I think bank holiday clear outs are definitely a thing - in fact I'm sure there was a thread about them at the weekend - but I'm not sure whether charity shops can process and price donations quite as fast as that. But what they might be doing is putting out their summer stuff at last. If I were you, I'd go back again next week - there might be even more finds.

Givemethebiggestslice · 09/05/2018 19:36

Ah yes maybe they are finally putting out summer stock.

I’m very chuffed! I never normally get this lucky in charity shops.

Fantastic, Givemethebiggestslice!

I scored two brilliant bargains from our local BHF last Friday - a black silk LK Bennett cocktail dress for £4.95 and a black & white linen fitted Laura Ashley dress also for £4.95. Both immaculate.

I love charity shops. Smile

I am so jealous that I'm not going to pay any attention to you Envy

Grrrrrrrrer

I’ve had a d&g top from the 50p rail in mine. Didn’t fit, daughter didn’t want it...sold it for £18 on eBay

dontticklethetoad · 09/05/2018 21:04

Where abouts are you? Our charity shops charge ridiculous prices.
I know it's to generate money for charity, but charging £6 for a Primark top that still has its £5 label in is taking the piss Grin

I had a very good haul from my local chazza this weekend. Got a quirky silk J Crew shirt - didn’t even need ironing after I washed it, the creases just fell out! Plus a Boden flowery summer A line skirt for me and an incredibly cute Jack Wills shirt for DD.

JurassicGirl · 09/05/2018 21:13

On Tuesday I went to our local animal charity shop & got a fab haul from the kids section! I got:

3 x pairs of slim leg Next jeans for DD
2 x Zara t-shirts for DD
4 x Denim/Chino shorts from M&S and H&M for DS
Mini Boden towelling beach cover up for DD

Each item was 20p so all of the above for £2!!!!!!!!!!

I've been telling everyone lol - love a bargain :D

goose1964 · 09/05/2018 21:42

I found a gorgeous Hobbs dress for £14.99 a size too small to risk and some Jones the bootmaker sandals, right size but I could only get three toes in, they were really narrow

AnnabelleLecter · 09/05/2018 23:29

A couple of weeks ago I got a lovely Calvin Klein fitted shirt for £6. Fits like a dream and I have already worn it which is the real test.

swampytiggaa · 10/05/2018 06:47

We are always busy after a bank holiday 🙂 but yes it might be that summer stuff is coming down... we have loads stored as people tend to donate clothes at the end of a season iyswim 🙂

Givemethebiggestslice · 14/05/2018 22:28

Got some more great bits today including a Baukjen jumper dress that looks absolutely brand new (£8.50) and a Whistles dress (£7.50).

I’m amazed people chuck out such expensive stuff that has clearly only been worn once or twice if that.....although great for charity and shoppers like me!

I’m meant to be decluttering (!) and not buying clothes but can’t resist a bargain!
