Burning Scalp-Massive Hair loss in 6 months

Hello Ladies,

I am starting this thread to get a discussion going on hair loss. I am in my early 40's, faced significant stress as I moved from US to the UK 8 months ago (I am in UK for 3 years on a job rotation). I started experiencing burning + itchy scalp, losing loads of hair. My hair was beautiful 8 months ago and now I have a bald spot on the front and all along my hairline.
My Ferritin was a bit below normal so I am taking supplements, taking biotin, avoiding diary, my thyroids are normal. My GP suggested I try Oestrogen/Estrogen as this may be a hormonal imbalance. I also coincidentally, have become alcohol intolerant and my digestive system is not that good... I went to Gynaecologist and she has prescribed Glucobay + oestrogen... I have started Glucobay even though my HbA1c, fasting and post lunch blood sugar are perfect! Any advise ladies? I don't want the hair loss to become worse after taking HRT...I am desparate :(

Hi PTM,

I tried rosemary, but I lost more hair, maybe I should try it with a carrier oil, so it's not as harsh on my scalp.

Sorry to hear your daughter is going through it too. Do you think it could be the HRT? which HRT does she take?

Have you tried the turmeric and black pepper? Did it work?

Meera8 yes you should use Rosemary oul with a carrier oil, i was told this in Holland and Barratt
I'm sorry you are losing more hair, the Regaine doesn't seem to be working, although they do say you could lose more before you see new growth, and i am losing more
My daughter has changed HRT a few times, partly because of the shortage of some
Yesterday she spoke to a menopause specialist,[free 15 minute call] who told her to get a blood test, Drs say it cant be done as hormones fluctuate, but the Dr yesterday said as she is on HRT now her hormones will be steady,
My daughter rang her Dr who said they didn't do them, she would have to go private
She has a slight thyroid imbalance so was tried on tablets for that but made no difference
I got a private message last year off someone who said switching hrt saw her losing hair, but once she got settled on one her hair improved and not lost any since
I really don't know the answer, just keep trying
