Fantasie bra

poppyinbloom · 06/05/2018 13:03

Are they good quality? I have VS bras and a lot of them leave red marks where the band is in front by the underwire (and I was measured in store). I want a comfortable bra that won't leave marks but puts everything in the right place. I measured myself on the boob or bust calculator and I have to say I'm shocked... if you've purchased a bra based on the calculation you got from that, does it really fit?!

Yes, they're good quality if washed properly, and true to size. They're not the sexiest of bras but they are comfy. I can recommend the Elodie design.

Bramble71 · 06/05/2018 19:33

Fantasie is the only brand I wear. I have big boobs and find their bras to be supportive. The sizing is good and they don't 'stretch' too quickly, either, if that makes sense! Fantasie can be quite pricy, so I always look out for eBay traders stocking my size.

PhilODox · 06/05/2018 19:34

I always have them too. Get the ones with side support, they're the best model.

PoshPenny · 06/05/2018 19:36

I'm very happy with fantasie bras, they've washed and worn very well. I did the boob or bust thing, but I'm really not the size they say I should be. According to that I'm something like a 38J, but the reality is a 38G from fantasie (at any rate) is spot on.

mimibunz · 06/05/2018 19:38

I love my Fantasie bras. Very comfortable and long lasting.

Bramble71 · 06/05/2018 19:40

Phil's advice about the side support is invaluable. I forgot to mention, I always get their full cup styles, too.

greathat · 06/05/2018 19:49

Fantasie bras are so comfy!

PhilODox · 06/05/2018 19:55

Sorry, just realised you asked about quality! I think they're v good quality. I have been getting them for about 10 years now, and very pleased with how long they last. I wear them one day only, then wash (normal wash cycle) in a bra bag (probably from Lakeland), with non-bio. I have two identical ones (which I think we're Elodie) that are now in their fourth or fifth year. They still look good, but they're a neutral beigeish colour so wouldn't show fade like dark colours might. The others I have are newer, but still two or three years old, and show no signs of fade (black, grey, red and navy).

KatharinaRosalie · 06/05/2018 21:13

Yes. also, VS is crap at fitting. Have you tried to measure yourself the Bra Intervention way?

DramaAlpaca · 06/05/2018 21:16

I can also recommend the Elodie. They fit well, are supportive and very comfortable. And they last ages without losing their shape.

PhillyJoe · 06/05/2018 21:21

All my bras are Fantasie - they fit well and give a good shape. My favourite is this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0763PGWBG/ref=mpsa11?ie=UTF8&qid=1525637970&sr=8-1&pi=ACSX236SY340_QL65&keywords=fantasie+smoothing&dpPl=1&dpID=41WvWv1%2BLeL&ref=plSrch

I keep trying other bras as I want something prettier but never like them as much as these.

poppyinbloom · 06/05/2018 21:44

Wow, thank you everyone! This is really helpful. I had my eye on the Elodie one. I actually think the Fantasie bras are really attractive. Why don't you think so, Bombardier?

Katharina, I have mostly only ever worn VS and I can honestly say I think they are really uncomfortable and I don't ever want to buy one again. I recently bought an Iris & Lilly or Lilly & Iris (?) bra off Amazon and it's a lot more comfortable... I realized I'd been squezing myself into uncomfortable bras for all of my adult life.

I haven't measured myself the Bra Intervention way, only the Boob or BUst one. But I will check into that, thank you.

Thanks for the link, PhillyJoe. And I never even would have thought about side support had you not mentioned it.

Another Elodie wearer here - I'm 34G, it has the BEST side support. Very comfy, and they last for years.

NotMeNoNo · 06/05/2018 22:11

The one Phillie linked is my go to t shirt bra. Freya are made by Fantasie too and have some great bras. It can be a bit alarming to be a 30G or something but who cares as long as they fit?

puppymouse · 06/05/2018 22:13

I wear Fantasie Jacquelines and love them.

ChishandFips33 · 06/05/2018 22:24

Fantasie are great but the one I have I went up a cup to 32E (32DD in Freya)

My go-to make is Freya (didn't know Fantasie make them) and I wear the Deco range.

Belle Lingerie have been great recently - service and price

maymai · 06/05/2018 22:31

Try leia lingerie website they do discounted fantasie bras.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2018 22:39

Can we just go back to the bra bag thing for washing them. Does that mean I wouldn't need to wash them on a separate delicate cycle?
If so, what a revelation!

PhilODox · 07/05/2018 00:16

OYBBK- I can't guarantee how yours would last... but I certainly don't have time for handwashing!
I always wash mine in with our clothes, which are usually done on a 'synthetics' cycle, which lasts 1hr20mins (LG machine) at 40°, with 1400 rev spin.
I use a soft padded bag to wash them in. No wires have ever come out, fabric looks fine (obviously my older bras look older than the newer ones)

I am not Philly Joe btw.

BubblesBuddy · 07/05/2018 00:46

I wash my Fantasie bras on a delicates wash and I would recommend them too. However, until you know which style is for you, I would go to a store and try a few on. I never buy full cup - always balconette. I have several designs and they are all good.

DD likes Panache. They do need to be tried on, but once you know your size and favourite, you can reorder. DD also has Triumph Amourette too. They do a nice comfy lace bra that fits and, like the others, minimises. However, side supporting bras are a good idea if you need them and Fantasie is good for this.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/05/2018 08:15

Thanks Phil! I'm prepared to take the risk. I normally do a wool wash with them, with our sweaters, but clearly in the summer this becomes more problematic.

PhillyJoe · 12/05/2018 14:35

Thanks for starting this thread - I've finally found some other bras that fit other than the one I linked above. I just got a Freya Deco and am in love. Also got a Fantasie Rebecca which is lovely and fits well.

ChishandFips33 · 12/05/2018 16:11

Did you buy the same size for both Rebecca and Deco Philly?

These bra threads are tempting me to try something different

Which site did you buy from?

PhillyJoe · 12/05/2018 16:49

I got them both in the same size which is the same as my other Fantasie bras. I'd say the Freya's are a bit tighter in the band but still fit well. I got mine from Amazon.

Bratsandtwats · 12/05/2018 16:50

@Bramble71

Me too. I don't know or care if a fabric design is last seasons.
