So I've got a job in a hospital as a healthcare assistant, and I have absolutely no idea what on Earth I'm going to wear on my feet (!)

Anybody have any links or pictures of what one is expected to wear?

I don't work in a hospital, or wear a uniform now but when I did I wore something like this. I could only ever wear Clark's shoes for work, I bought a pair of Hush Puppies once and they made my feet ache.

I wear skechers trainers with memory foam. So comfy.

If your workplace is strict about shoes being wipe clean they do leather shoes with the memory foam insoles.

these. ugly as hell, not the cheapest, but last aaaaages and are really really comfy. i’d say 70% of the nurses/HCAs i see on wards wear them! including me...

Fit flops ! So comfy and the only shoes that dont make my feet burn after a 12 hour shift!

A lot of people wear sketchers , I think they're super comfy and amazing

Hotter Dew shoes: they are flat black lace-ups, and are comfortable from the first wear.
Last for ages, too.
I work a 13 hour shift, and my feet are fine in them; wouldn't consider buying any other shoe for work now.

A vote for the clarks ones from me as well. My feet haven't hurt once when I wear them for 13hours. Definitely the best pair I've had in 10 years of nursing

Another unloop wearer. 12.5hr shifts and no issues.

I wear M&S Footglove Dolly shoes - look nice & very comfortable for being on your feet all day.

Bratsandtwats · 03/05/2018 16:56

Clarks unloop. Your shoes should cover your whole foot for safety reasons and also have some support built in rather than dead flat shoes.

Look after your feet or you'll really regret it in a healthcare type job where you're on your feet for hours and hours on end.

Keep the nice looking, pretty shoes for in your own time. Ugly shoes all the way I'm afraid!
