Can anyone recommend a hairdresser North East London?

I haven't had it cut for 6 months since the place I went to closed and really need to find somewhere that's good at cut & colour & not outrageously expensive.

Areas: Islington/west Hackney/City/West End (but not too West. Eg Covent Garden is ok). Would prefer Islington or Hackney though. There are loads of salons round here but I'd like a personal recommendation.

I'm in my 50s, medium long hair, looking to have a permanent colour to cover grey. I've been semi-permanent-ing it myself for a while.

Any suggestions, lovely Mners?

Is Hornsey too far for you? I know a good hairdresser in Hornsey

It's called Madams on Hornsey high st. Good prices and good hairdressers. Always have a good haircut from them.

There's another one called Ellie's studio on the same Street. Really talented hairdressers but more pricier.
Have a look at prices and reviews of both online if it's a convenient location to you

I really rate the Aveda Institute salon in Holborn

I've been going to Shades on Pentonville Road N1 for over a year and I'm very happy with my hair after a few bad experiences with other salons in Islington. The set up is pretty basic (no frills) but run by two lovely brothers and it's very reasonably priced. After about 3 years of not being listened to by other hairdressers I now feel I have the hair I want. Good luck!

Brooks and Brooks near Holborn is brilliant. I used to go there regularly but now have a hairdresser who comes to my house.
