This for a wedding?

I think I might be way off the mark here, but I’m a very unfortunate shape at the moment, so really stuck for something to wear. I’m a tall, size 16 apple, (though currently trying to lose some weight - have lost a few pounds and need to lose a few more before I’m a healthy bmi. Ideally, I’d like to lose more, but I’ll take healthy bmi to start with). Anyway, I had my second dc by cs 3 months ago, so my already big tummy is even bigger Sad.

I saw this:

www.marksandspencer.com/curve-printed-short-sleeve-swing-dress/p/p60161077%20?&pdpredirect

...on the mn ‘swears by’ and thought it might be ok. I am breastfeeding and this looks like it won’t let me bf, BUT, I will have a room in the venue where I can slope off to feed. Also, I pump more than I feed at the moment (it’s a long story), so can feed the baby a bottle of bm and also go and pump at the venue.

The other thing is that the bridesmaids are wearing navy... hmmm it’s seeming less and less likely that this is the one isn’t it? The wedding isn’t for a couple of months, so maybe I could wait and see if this comes out in another colour by then.

Oh I’m excited now. I think I’m leaning towards trousers as would be more comfortable than a dress and I’ll be running round after my 3yo and a young baby.

I may even stretch to wearing some low heels, which is most exciting for me!

@graph

I’m just big all over and a little shrek-like at the mo Grin.

These. I have two tops to go with these. An all over lace design with long sleeves and high neck and a wrap style top. Both look great and I actually bought mine to attend a wedding.

Graphista · 23/04/2018 09:09

I'm sure you're not but I remember feeling like that after having dd Grin

I made the mistake of cutting my hair short too (wrongly thinking it would be less time consuming) which just made my face look fat!

In addition until I was pregnant I was a size 6/8, didn't show until almost 5 months and then BALLLOONED, so much people genuine asked if it was twins!

I lost the weight in the first year, put a little back on, then split with ex and lost it again on divorce diet but gradually it's went back on - not helped by a variety of health issues inc a major car accident that's affected my mobility.

Genes are what's made it almost all go on boobs and belly though- skinny arms and legs and non-existent arse Grin

DanceDisaster · 23/04/2018 09:14

Ah @graph. It’s no fun being an Apple. Though, at least we can wear a sack and maybe look a bit slim! I’ve never been a size 6/8 in my life. Maybe when I was a child! Was always giant (height) at school. Meh, life’s rich tapestry etc. I bet you look beaut.

Oh I like that Zara skirt too! Also on the lookout for some kickflares.

Thanks so much all. Feeling much better about shopping for this now.

You must let us see what you end up getting. When's the wedding (roughly)?

I'm no beaut! Grin but my hair is long now (much easier and much to my mothers horror - apparently long hair after 40 is unseemly Grin)

The pale pink wide leg trousers are lovely. I would try those with a delicate blouse.

Graphista · 23/04/2018 09:18

That is pretty bumbum - don't wait for an occasion - nice warm day get it worn! Life's too short.

DanceDisaster · 23/04/2018 09:25

Wedding is in the middle of June. I will update when I decide on something. I might even upload a picture depending on how confident I’m feeling! I’ve got two months to try to lose some more weight and tone up a bit.

I’m still leaning towards trousers, though I like all the dresses linked to on here too. Will have to do a big trying on session.

Hi. I'm also an apple shaped size 16,5 ft 9.
I went to Debenhams in search of wedding guest dresses and came out with 3 things!2 dresses and a gorgeous jump suit from Henry Holland.

Bumbumtaloo · 23/04/2018 09:42

Thanks Graphista it would be a waste though, I very rarely leave the house (have a few chronic health problems) and I’m really not a dress kind of person, live in jeans usually.

Graphista · 23/04/2018 09:47

Fair enough - I'm similar - I just hate to see people denying themselves pleasures for the sake of "keeping something for best"

DanceDisaster · 23/04/2018 09:58

Oh thanks @sarah. We sound a similar shape and size. I’ve had some nice things from Debenhams in the past actually. Maybe worth a visit. In person shopping oooooooh... bit of a novelty as I never make time for anything except online shopping.

Sorry, this is the dress I posted, I realised I hadn’t logged out of my simply be account and so had to get my original post removed.

DanceDisaster · 23/04/2018 10:06

Oh do you have to do that?! Yikes I always post links without logging out. Will go and change my password.

OP posts:
Bumbumtaloo · 23/04/2018 10:14

DanceDisaster when I clicked the link that I posted I could go straight into my account details from it but I’m not sure if it’s because I normally access the account from my phone. I thought it was best to get it removed just in case and repost.

DanceDisaster · 23/04/2018 10:14

Ah ok, thanks @bum. I was due a password change anyway.

Looks like you’ve moved on from the M and S dress you originally posted so this has been overtaken, but just to say, having seen it in RL, it’s definitely too casual for a wedding.

DanceDisaster · 23/04/2018 10:55

Thanks for confirming @pol.

I've seen bombshell dresses which look gorgeous. Bombshellhq.com

goose1964 · 24/04/2018 12:45

I bought this the other day

www.lindybop.co.uk/dawn-white-poppy-print-swing-dress.html

although it says white it's more of a blush. the top would be suitable for breast feeding too

I intend wearing it with white birkenstocks for everyday and my hot pink wedges to make it dressier.

It's not clear in the picture but it comes with a self tie belt

Graphista · 24/04/2018 22:59

That's really pretty goose.

Few of my old friends like that company so sometimes see their latest purchases on FB. One wore a dress of theirs to get wed in.
