Need recommendations for an awesome hairdresser who can give me a makeover

I’ve always wanted to go to an amazing hairdresser who can look at my face shape and hair type and give me a hair cut that really suits me. Whenever I go to the hairdresser, even though I ask their advice on what will suit me best, I always end up with a completely boring long layered blah hair cut.

Going to treat myself after a tough couple of years. Happy to travel to London and pay a fair whack. I honestly don’t know what will suit me any more and I need help!

My hairdresser is brilliant, former editorial stylist and a portrait painter at art school, but works in rural Devon. Happy to send contact information but I am sure someone will come on here with something more local. Where are you located?

Dorset, but will have to go to London in the next couple of months anyway so figure I’m likely to find more decent hairdressers up there than my neck of the woods.

I have a great hairdresser in Birmingham?

Mark Anderson in Dulwich. ( South London.) Mumsnetters rhapsodise about him and I'm currently saving up for a visit.

Hello. I had really bad skin when I was pregnant and felt rubbish about myself but splashed out on a visit to Richard Ward in Sloane Square for a haircut. It was so worth it! My hair was really long and thick (hormones) and I came out feeling really amazing for the first time in months! I saw Matt Hawes there and have since followed him to Josh Wood Atelier in Holland Park. He’s really great although I can only afford to go 3/4 times a year. I really recommend him! And they are colour experts too if you need that?

Casy Coleman in Cardiff. Bloody brilliant.

I went to Mark Anderson in Dulwich, having seen a recent thread on MN. I got the hair cut of my life. He pays a lot of attention to face shape, hair type etc and then he goes to work and is extremely talented. He isn't cheap, £139 for a cut. But I'd just paid £60 a couple of months befote I went on a cut and blow dry in a stardard London salon. It hung badly and was boxy and had weird layers that I couldn't style.
My hair now hangs beautifully and suits me. The best money I spent on beauty this year. Along with trilogy rosehip oil which is making a big difference to my skin!

Sorry, should say £130 for cut & dry. All prices are on his website. Worth saving for. He works weekends and late eve appointments too as he works from home and likes doing hair around a balanced life, having travelled as a session artist to the stars for years.
