How can I look least horrible?

I am a bridesmaid in a couple of months time. The dress was picked by the bride without any consultation with bridesmaids- fair doos, it’s her party.
It’s ‘old ladies tights’ coloured beige- the colour on the label calls it officially ‘mink’. It would look lovely on the bride, but less so on me.

I have cool winter colouring. Beige does nothing for me. I can’t change the dress. I’ve been asked to have nude nails and lips (well not exactly nude lips, but no red or similar which would be my usual way of jazzing up an outfit)

How on earth can I make this less horrible?
I’m already thinking fake tan might warm my colouring up a bit and make me look less dead.
Dark eye make up? Big statement earrings?
Help me!

I'd ask for the bride's permission/opinion on a spray tan. Don't just assume she will be ok with one.

I would be absolutely fine about all that (I didn't even have bridesmaids)!, but I remember when I was getting married and browsing wedding forums, lots of brides either wanted all or none of the their bridesmsids to get tans- as far as I know it's something to do with the photography. It sounds like she wants everything quite neutral and soft anyway.

I do feel for you, I'm very picky myself about what suits me, but that's just part and parcel of being a BM - you have to suck it up!

I think the white flowers in hair is a great idea as it will help to focus attention away from dress - also great way to get some light reflection around the face which will really lift your complexion and help counteract the skin draining effect of the dress colour.

You can enhance this effect further with lovely white pearl earrings which are also fab at brightening your facial tones and get your face nice and glowy - start exfoliating toner now, use illuminating foundation and gentle (don't go overboard!) highlighter, pinky rose lips and blush.

I think you will look lovely.

Whoa! Who thinks this level of instruction from the bride is waaay too controlling?

Bright red nails and lips with red roses in your hair would cheer that fecker up OP. She sounds a nightmare.

I would do as I pleased. The dress is enough input from her.

A big big smile is your best accessory option here I think.

Am kinda gobsmacked at all these rules about makeup and ' asking permission' to get a fake tan. What happend to a wedding being about celebrating with friends and family?? Sounds like some people should just hire models for a photoshoot!!

Get some hair extensions for the day so al least your hair will look fabulous! I don't get why brides do this, do they make their bridesmaids look dowdy on purpose so that they themselves can shine?
