Is there such a thing as a nice raincoat?
Something thats ok to wear on the school run, supermarket run etc!

Protected species is very chic but hugely expensive. So not for the supermarket only.. I know I am not much help.

Catmatrat · 16/04/2018 18:34

I’ve just ordered a joules coast in navy while they have 25% off!

truthybeach · 16/04/2018 18:34

Seasalt? I’m searching too.

Lunenburg · 16/04/2018 18:37

Am loving this one and trying to justify another raincoat.

The material is lovely and the fit is really good

Another vote for Protected Species!
Didriksons have some nice styles sometimes.

CelticSelkie · 16/04/2018 18:39

It's only a mac in a bag but I bought a mac from fatface the other day. It's thinly lined and has a nice face.

KnockMeDown · 16/04/2018 18:41

I have this one from Sainsbury

Sashkin · 16/04/2018 18:44

Trench coat. Mine’s from Hobbs, Banana Republic often have nice ones too. Actual macs and anoraks always look frumpy - I own one (Arcteryx) but I’m not under any illusions about what I look like in it GrinGrin

bassackwards · 16/04/2018 18:45

Have a look at the 'Perfect Rainjacket' from J Crew

Notcontent · 16/04/2018 19:16

Look at Rains

GreyHare · 16/04/2018 19:24

I have a couple from Joules and the hoods are excellent and they keep you very dry.

TokyoSushi · 16/04/2018 19:31

Joules, 25% off ends today

closephine85 · 16/04/2018 20:08

I have this Rains one in a beige colour (not sure they do that shade any more) www.rains.com/collections/rainwear/products/curve-jacket?variant=6879832375342.

Absolutely LOVE IT and almost look forward to rain so that I can wear it Smile they run massive though, I’m a size 10 and have the XXS.

Onebusymum · 16/04/2018 20:14

I like this one?

I like it too OP!

Blankscreen · 16/04/2018 20:50

I was also going to say Rains. Worth every penny

Catmatrat · 16/04/2018 21:03

Yes that’s nice, they also do a longer length one which Faith from Keeping Faith wore, it was nice too.

Onebusymum · 16/04/2018 21:07

Yes i saw that.liked the yellow last year. Never bought as i thought it was too bright for me.

MadMaryBoddington · 16/04/2018 22:11

I just bought this and wore it every day on a rain-soaked week in Italy last week. It kept me dry as a bone and was surprisingly un-sweaty for a plastic mac, as it is a comfortable loose fit. I’ve had lots of comments about how stylish I looked, which is quite something considering my photos were all in torrential rain!

Ignore the ‘faux leather’ nonsense - it’s just a (lined) plastic mac.

BubblesBuddy · 16/04/2018 22:13

Massimo Dutti has some great ones! Or Seasalt for informal.

MadMaryBoddington · 16/04/2018 22:14

Link would help Hmm:

Pangur2 · 16/04/2018 22:15

Elements of London do great vintage style rain coats.

PopGoesTheWeaz · 16/04/2018 22:23

For those who wear trench coats, serious question, but do you carry an umbrella when you wear it? I need to have hands free so a rain coat without a hood seems to defeat the purpose.

wineusuallyhelps · 16/04/2018 22:28

I have several Fat Face coats, but don't know if they still do non-frumpy ones as mine are a few years old.

They are great quality and keep you dry, plus the hoods are lovely and big. Nothing worse than a hood only coming to the front of your hairline!

rightknockered · 17/04/2018 11:04

I recently bought a rubberised cotton raincoat from Stutterheim.
