How much does it cost to get your hair cut at a hairdressers?

I am TOTALLY out of touch - my mum has cut mine for so many years! But I am toying with having it short when we move (which dh would prefer) and informed him that since we will be 200 miles from my mother it will entail a hairdressing trip every 6 weeks (which he would not prefer ). My hair grows like the clappers so I would definitely need it done that often. I say a haircut would be at least £30 - dh thinks I could get it done far cheaper (at a barbers - - is he having a larf??) - how much is it really? Think small provincial town and small salon not a chain.

Cut and blow dry, between £20-£28 depending on who does it, always a good cut.

Am in Northern Ireland in medium sized town.

WideWebWitch · 12/05/2007 10:32

I pay £100 every 6 weeks for cut and colour. No idea how much without the colour, sorry. And this is small place and not a chain, but SE.

paddingtonbear1 · 12/05/2007 10:33

i live in a suburb, and yes it would be around £30. I've not had mine done for ages. dd's used to cost around £7, but I did hers myself last time!

Idreamofdaleks · 12/05/2007 10:34

Wet cuts (ie no blow dry or just a rough blow dry) are cheaper and most salons will do them

tortoise · 12/05/2007 10:40

£11 for dry cut in my small town.

donnie · 12/05/2007 10:43

£30 - £40 depending on the stylist for wash, cut and blow dry. I am in London but this is local to me ( North London). Colours are £80.
However, when Iused to go to a salon in Mayfair - 6 years ago - I paid £120 to get the full monty!( inc colours of course).

eidsvold · 12/05/2007 11:32

depending which salon I went to - anything from 25 to 40 quid.

Furrymummy · 12/05/2007 18:05

I paid £6.50 at my local hairdressers about 3 months ago for a wet cut and blow dry!!!!!!!
They did my hair for my wedding (did a fab job to), plus my 3 bridesmaids and my mum for £50!!!
Maybe it's because I live up in the NE and it's just a small independent in a small town? They always do a great job btw... the most they have ever charged me was £28 for a full colour!

lou33 · 12/05/2007 18:07
