What are your cheap vs splurge success stories ?

Superdrug gylcolic pads instead of nip/ tuck and Superdrug naturally radiant hot polish cleanser instead of Liz Earle.

Seche Vite quick dry top coat over nail polish instead of forking out for Gels (lasts a week on me)

The ordinary rose facial oil instead of Neal's Yard.

I also got a roll on deodorant from boots own brand called 'fresh citrus' 48hr and it smells amazing, lasts better than dove and costs 75p. That's all I can think of for now!

Everley · 10/04/2018 21:08

Lotsofsausage Ooh, thanks for the tip! I love the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish but would like to try a cheaper alternative.

I swear by Head & Shoulders shampoo, I've tried every shampoo going but this knocks the socks off even the most expensive ones.

BusterGonad · 10/04/2018 22:08

Everley I love head and shoulders but it really strips my colour!

Jaimx86 · 10/04/2018 22:36

Arrow colour enhancing lip balm (£11) in place of Dior's lip glow in shade 001 (£26). I'd swear it's the same product if I couldn't see the packaging.

just as good for a fraction of the price !
Everley · 11/04/2018 00:09

BusterGonad Ah, I don't colour my hair. I won't ever be able to if it strips colour Confused Hadn't thought about that!

Jaimx86 I have that Arrow balm and have been wanting to try the same Dior one for ages so you've saved me some cash there!

likeitlikethis · 11/04/2018 00:16

Aldi Q10 serum is fab, been using it for about a year & I really rate it. Also Boots No7 hot cloth cleanser, lasts for ages ( I bought mine a just under a year ago & still have half left even though I use it twice a week) -my skin feels amazing after using it

Doingreat · 11/04/2018 20:55

I used to use estee lauder double wear foundation as well as clarins. I've now been using rimmel 25hr serum foundation which is just as good and much more moisturising than double wear.

SapphireSeptember · 12/04/2018 00:46

Kiko lipsticks, they're just as good as MAC/Smashbox/Urban Decay but a hell of a lot cheaper. (And they have a decent range of colours, including some unusual ones, which makes me happy. Their black lipstick is the best I've ever used.)

MercianQueen · 12/04/2018 01:02

@Jaimx86 I wear that Arrow balm as my everyday lippy. It is superb. The colour is great - makes me look "done" without a full face of make-up, and doesn't dry my lips like most balms. Got it in my Birchbox about a year ago and it's still going strong 💪

Jaimx86 · 12/04/2018 09:29

MercianQueen ,I agree. The shade seems to make my whole face look a little more done (even radiant?) just by wearing it. I know have four. Grin One in each of the quotes I wear most often, my make up bag and my work bag. I recommend it to everyone.

Have you tried any other Arrow products?

MissMorkansAnnualDance · 12/04/2018 20:46

Perfume Parlour perfumes.

The Body Shop oils of life facial oil is a million times nicer than others I've tried, including L'Occitane Divine oil which costs about £70. My skin feels silky and plumped in the morning.

Licencedtodrill · 13/04/2018 11:57

Coty L'aimant perfume- smells just like channel no 5. Used it for the first time today- it smells lovely, it's an old fashioned scent but I prefer the older scents to modern ones anyway.

Bubblysqueak · 13/04/2018 12:06

Jaimx86 , new to wearing anything on my lips, where can I get the arrow balm from ?

suchatiredbunny · 13/04/2018 12:31

I found Burts Bees tinted lip balms in £land a few months ago, in Cala Lily, and it's enough colour to mean I don't need lipstick. Perfect for out and about, I liked it so much I went back and bought the other eight they had left!

Floisme · 13/04/2018 12:32

I cleanse with almond oil and a flannel.

Almond oil - couple of quid for a big bottle from the grocery counter. If it's ok to put in my mouth then I reckon it's ok to put on my skin.
Flannel - about 50P.

Does the trick - and no risk of setting my face on fire.

Excellent thread.

I'll try to think of my swaps.

Not quite the same, always buying tubes etc instead of pumps (Foundation, for example). Cutting the end of the latest has given me several extra weeks of a product that would have gone to waste.

Destinysdaughter · 13/04/2018 15:10

Poundland liquid eyeliner is really good and only £1! 😀

3stonedown · 13/04/2018 15:18

Wet and Wild are a good dupe for Mac lipsticks

VanillaSugar · 13/04/2018 15:20

I am blatantly placemarking.

Butterfly1975 · 13/04/2018 16:02

I love the Burts Bees tinted lip balm - I can't get used to wearing lipstick so these are my perfect option!

The Perfume Parlour Jo Malone dupe of Pomegranate Noir has been my best bargain buy of late. I literally can't tell the difference!

hettie · 13/04/2018 16:28

Yes to coconuts conditioner for dry hair. Newly discovered pisses all over my previous splurgly Average conditioner and an expensive Percy and reed leave in over night job. My colleague even asked me if I'd had my hair done
