Have dry skin and am looking for an exfoliator to brighten up my skin. Any suggestions?

on How to Look Good Naked the other day several "experts" said exfoliators aren't worth spending lots of money on - they said they're all basically the same - this was, admittedly more about body ones than face ones, but I should imagine the same is true. I like Body Shop ones - there's a nice Vitamin C one.

dermologica daily microfoliant is the best I have used.

StyleCouncil · 11/05/2007 08:57

Lush's Angels on Bare Skin -

noddyholder · 11/05/2007 09:12

liz earle cleanse and polish is very gentle and the results are instant

isaidno · 11/05/2007 09:19

I like boots no 7 or Clarins.

I also like the micro demasbrasion (boots or loreal) stuff - but you can only use that once a week max!

sputnik · 11/05/2007 09:21

I have sensitive skin and find the Body Shop aloe one is good for me

spa sanctuary (in boots) do the cloth polisher (god keep forgetting I have this) its not that expensive and feels lovely afterwards and they do the hot microfoliant one which is only to be used 3 times a week and its really good, my skin feels lush afterwards

Thank you everyone, has anyone used the Apricot scrub from St Ives?

If you have a search, Cod asked a similar question a couple of weeks ago, and there were lots of recommendations.

I would recommend Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator (I buy in Saks, but sure some other salons stock too).

Second vote for 'Angels on bare skin'

bossykate · 11/05/2007 14:27

dermalogica daily microfoliant is superb.

Twinkie1 · 11/05/2007 14:35

Estee Lauder do a micro exfoliator thing - Idealist Micro D - it is lovely and really works or Decleor Phyto Peel is great too and you see all your skin coming off when you rub it off which is satisfying in a weird kinda way!!

incy · 11/05/2007 14:36

jazzicat - had a couple of free samples of the St Ives one and was quite pleased when I tried it- it is quite coarse though so I wouldn't suggest for sensitive skin.

mosschops30 · 11/05/2007 14:37

I like the clean and clear daily facial scrub I use it every day and its great

Pannacotta · 11/05/2007 16:39

Another vote for Liz Earle, much gentler than most scrubs...

spudmasher · 11/05/2007 16:40

Boots Time Delay microdermabrasion kit has worked for me. It comes with a lovely rich moisturiser - good if your skin is dry.

Rantum · 11/05/2007 16:43

Apricot scrub from St Ives - I use it and it is really good - I use the gentle one a couple times a week normally and for the week of the month when I am all hormonal and my skin reacts I use their blemish one - it seems to help.

sarahlou1uk · 11/05/2007 16:43

Clinique one worked for me. I have combination skin and this was just the right coarseness without taking loads of skin off!

cupcakesgalore · 11/05/2007 16:52

Liz Earle gentle exfoliator. nice and grainy but not harsh - you can use it every day. smells really good too.

MrsFogi · 11/05/2007 16:55

Origins does a really good one (I'll try to remember the name)

Jazzicatz · 11/05/2007 17:42

Oooohh I love Origins stuff, will have a look at that.

jalopy · 11/05/2007 18:08

A flannel is good.

RnBee · 11/05/2007 18:12

the origins one is called Modern Friction and its amazing

Whizzz · 11/05/2007 18:19

Another vote for Modern Friction....its brilliant

Jazzicatz · 11/05/2007 18:25

Is it pricey though??
