So pink sugar or gold sugar, which do I need?

pestilentialboundary · 06/04/2018 15:35

If you have to buy sugar Ollivander, Gold (crème brulee) is probably a little better than pink (candy floss). I may well be prejudiced against candy floss.

Motoko · 06/04/2018 15:43

Thanks for starting the new thread MrsG.

Ollivander where can you buy Pink Sugar? I had some pink sugar hair conditioner years ago, made by an American friend, and I could never find the perfume over here.
I haven't smelt Gold Sugar, but Pink Sugar is very sweet and candyflossy, as Pest said.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 06/04/2018 15:43

I have never tried pink sugar either ollivander and i keep looking at and wondering if i should!

Ollivander84 · 06/04/2018 15:48

Motoko - allbeauty have it

mrsreynolds · 06/04/2018 15:54

Thanks for the new thread mrsg
LOVING the title 🤣❤

MrsGruber · 06/04/2018 15:56

We hope Smile - so no pressure MrsR! Sorry about the bold fail.

I've ordered gold sugar for a tenner Grin

auberginesrus · 06/04/2018 15:57

Love the new thread title. Mrs G I am inordinately fond of the Miss Dior pink minger which I find much easier to wear than the original so ( which I love too)

SOTD is Goodbye Piccadilly. Just a bit too violet for me unfortunately so it will be making it's way into the swaps box.

auberginesrus · 06/04/2018 16:05

So = one

MrsGruber · 06/04/2018 16:14

The Postie has just delivered my latest dodgy vintage miniature Grin. Jil Sander II - top notes are shot, but after that, it's a gorgeous soft mossy leather. Might need to get other leathers out and compare when I get a chance (from memory it's softer than Azuree, Cabochard and Empreinte).

Thanks Ollivander, I'll go and have a look.

LibertyBlue · 06/04/2018 17:23

Thanks for the new thread MrsGruber

I have also done a very bad thing (x 3 actually). In the past couple of days I’ve purchased 3 purse sprays from 4160 (Outdoors, Mrs Gloss and SLC) 2 sample packs from Maison Francis Kurkdjian and just won 3 bottles on EBay unexpectedly.

However, the EBay haul is a treat - only minis - but I won Chanel Bois de Illes and La Pausa (both exclusifs) I’ve been wanting to try LP for ages because I think I’ll really like it. There was also a very exciting mini bottle of vintage Parure included in the lot. Does anyone want it? I’m thinking it might be Pest or Mrsg cup of tea as it’s a mossy fruity Chypre described Mitsouko’s little sister. I’ll have a sniff but I doubt I’d appreciate it and it sounds pretty special so best it goes to someone who will be excited by it. It’s apparently a classic now discontinued and rare.

In other vintage news, I’ve seen on fragrantica today that THE mythical Iris Gris has been faithfully recreated by Jacques Fath. Described by Luca Turin as a masterpiece and the best perfume ever (I’m paraphrasing but that’s the general gist in his book) the new formula has been created through a competition, won by a 25 year old whippersnapper (I’m bookmarking his name Wink) and they’ll only be releasing 150 bottles per year at a cost of 1470 Euros Shock. If I win the lottery I promise to give all you iris lovers a sample.

LibertyBlue · 06/04/2018 17:28

^ Parure is from Guerlain

MrsGruber · 06/04/2018 17:32
Grin

Parure sounds great Blue (on my 'to sniff' list) but don't want to leap in if Pest is interested.

Checking in, as I'm due another run to the tip! More garden waste......

MrsGruber · 06/04/2018 17:57

But what will you be wearing OC? (Perfume-wise Grin).

Sote sexiest scent

auberginesrus · 06/04/2018 18:24

4160s half price Scent of the Week is The Lion Cupboard.

Anyone tried?

auberginesrus · 06/04/2018 18:29

Mrs R if its any consolation I have spent most of my week off sorting through the mountain of stuff we have and taking things to charity in preparation for the work we're starting on our house in the next few weeks (new roof, building work in bedroom, replastering most of upstairs and hopefully a new bathroom). Then the decorating and carpeting. I hate buidling work/decorating with a passion but its beyond needing doing now.

mrsreynolds · 06/04/2018 18:39

Oh aubergine
I vividly remember doing our extension at the old house....
It was fab when it was done but a bit nightmarish with a toddler underfoot!
Repeat the mantra..."it will all be worth it in the end"
And coffee!
Lots of coffee ☕
Lion cupboard is one of the few 4610s I haven't tried

mrsreynolds · 06/04/2018 18:40

...and I have 3 bin bags full of bedding and curtains...the air ambulance have done very well out of me lately 😁

Judydreamsofhorses · 06/04/2018 19:15

Hello, new thread - the old one seemed to go really fast this time. SOTD is Tauer LDDM, whuch felt perfect for today’s chilly weather. I keep seeing threads about spring dressing here and snorting.

BarbaraCartlandsFloofyCat · 06/04/2018 19:25

Love the new thread title! Aren't we all chatty at the moment, we filled that thread so quickly! Perhaps it's all the reviews of all the stuff we have collectively bought recently GrinI have also been very very bad this week but shoes, not perfume. Three pairs this week BlushI love shoes and tend to buy them, especially impractical ones, when I'm unhappy (its ridiculous, a psychiatrist would love me). I can neither really afford nor actually wear the ones I've bought recently so I need to steer myself back to buying samples instead!

Andn in that note, tempted by the Sugars, but don't know if I can actually bring myself to buy something called pink sugar! DD would probably love it. Interested to read reviews from you guys who have been brave enough to go for it!

I'm also tempted by Knowing now MrsR as I know we have similar tastes (Fragrance Siblings rather than twins maybe Grin)

Fancy Paloma Picasso being "skanky"?! Surely not! I think of it as "grande dame" - slightly worried now that my grande dame bar is set wayyy too low and I'm actually just a skank Shock God I love the strength of the vintage stuff though, I have a round miniature bottle dating back to early 90s and there is nothing to touch it, IMO.

SOTE is Eau de Soir. This makes DH sneeze. I love it. DH can sit downstairs Grin

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 06/04/2018 19:32

Hello new thread... page 2 already Shock

Put shoes on the (ever expanding) Venn diagram Floof, there's no such thing as too many.

How's does real, and vintage, PP compare to PPPP? Never tried the real thing but love the Perfume Parlour version.

Hoping to avoid the bad club but the True Lust is calling me...

SotD was Jasmin et Cigarette. Liking this, It's an ideal tobacco for me. Smells like a black and white photo with a water colour wash.
