I've spent £35 on a perfume that smells like an impulse scent from the 90s

And I'm really happy about it Grin!

It's Philosophy, Fresh Cream and it smells sweet and vanillery just like an impulse scent from about 20 years ago. Except its got more depth and lasts longer and comes in a pretty muted cream bottle.

Please someone remind me what the impulse 'flavour' was?!

Was it Gypsy? I loved Gypsy. Maybe it was earlier though...

I remember Destiny was nice too but I don't think it smelt like that.

I don't think it was gypsy simply because I don't remember that one and being that all I wanted to be aged 13 was a gypsy (in the old fashioned wooden caravan and tasseled shawl way) I'd probably have bought it on its name alone!!

I think with hindsight that Gypsy might be more like 30 years ago. Blush I remember my older sister wearing it, but by the time I was a teenager it was old news.

Was it called vanilla kisses??? I remember it so well and I loved it too.

Yesss!!! Vanilla kisses.

Fresh Cream really smells so similar. It doesn't have those background notes of a sweaty changing room and P.E dread that I associate with most impulse sprays though!

In the 90s there were three vanilla fragranced impulses, vanilla kisses, vanilla secrets and vanilla delights.

That's right! I'd forgotten. I couldn't tell you which one it was most similar to.

Yeah I really don’t remember the difference but as far as I remember the pink one was the most popular at my school. Just right for spraying on unwashed after-gym pits. Lovely!

TiffanyDoggett · 28/03/2018 15:25

@ThisIsTheFirstStep exactly. I can't smell impulse without smelling the rest of the school changing room odours!

Was it the one in the gold tin?

That was my favourite.

Felt grown up as it wasnt fruity like the rest.

My favourite was Nirvana (black tin) and there are several really posho modern fragrances that smell exactly like it. Tom Fords etc. Grin

Another favourite of mine was Captivation (pink tin)
