PinkChick · 09/05/2007 16:15

yeah have orderd simply be catalogue, couldnt see one on website but they did have nice other styles, never thought of next online, they do 18-20's dont they?..max is like strappy summer frock but all the way down to floor, very hippyish but cool n comfyhopefully hide a multitude of sins too

Don't go for a cover-up. Just talking about this on another thread. Did you watch how to look good naked last night? Google that. That gay bloke has some brilliant tips.

We learned all about making the best of your hooters if you've got big one's last night!

QueenofBleach · 09/05/2007 16:24

try 1647 which is Dawn french's clothes shop and not to hideously expensive they seem really quite nice

funkimummy · 09/05/2007 16:24

You mean she owns her own clothes shop?

twinsetandpearls · 09/05/2007 16:27

funkimummy I have just watched that on replay and was amazed as he broke so many rules and yet she did look great.

fryalot · 09/05/2007 16:28

Try them on first

I bought a maxi dress size 16 off the internet.

Tis very nice.

I look like I've got my head sticking out of the chimney of a tent!

funkimummy · 09/05/2007 16:29

Really? What rules did he break? I get lost between Trinny and Susannah and all the others. She did look fab though!

QueenofBleach · 09/05/2007 16:29

I remember reading years ago that she was so fed up with the lack of clothes for the fuller figured lady and called it 1647 because 47% of women were size 16 or over. So she started her own with a designer.

twinsetandpearls · 09/05/2007 16:33

lol squonk

Well I thught to be honest that the halter neck was gojng to be a mistake as she was so broad and had untoned arms and when she tried it on in the dressing room I didn't think it looked that great but on the catwalk with her hair and makeup done she did look good.

twinsetandpearls · 09/05/2007 16:33

and the sleevless t shirt for the evening outfit for the same reason, although she did have a shawl I suppose.

funkimummy · 09/05/2007 16:35

Ah yes I see where you're coming from now. I did grimace slightly at that, but she did look lovely. I don't think I would've had the guts to stomp (as I do) up the catwalk in almost the altogether though!

twinsetandpearls · 09/05/2007 16:35

1647

twinsetandpearls · 09/05/2007 16:37

having looked at his webpage he does put larger women in a lot of clothes that I just wouldn't wear, I have an irrational fear of black with colour or sleeveless tops but they seem to carry it off. It must be about confidence.

twinsetandpearls · 09/05/2007 16:38

the 1647 stuff looks a bit frumpy to me, but it good be the badly designed website.

funkimummy · 09/05/2007 16:44

Twinset - I know you've been an MNer for ages. So do you do clothes stuff as a hobby/living then I take it - do we call for you if we need help with style issues?

twinsetandpearls · 09/05/2007 16:46

dp would say I buy clothes for a living!! I am actually a teacher though

I just like shopping, also make some of my own stuff and have worked in the rag trade. I don't by any means have an ideal fugure - size 16 but I know how to make the best of myself, I dress to stand out having no wallflower tendencies and I always get lots of compliments.

funkimummy · 09/05/2007 16:49

Aha - I think we need to form an orderly queue to ask your advice! I love clothes, but hate buying them as I'm a whole 5.1" tall! And the miniature people ranges aren't always that fun.

twinsetandpearls · 09/05/2007 16:58

I am 5 foot two and a half

funkimummy · 09/05/2007 17:11

Ah so you get to look at the mini ranges for size 6-10 too then! Like height and weight correlate!

PinkChick · 09/05/2007 19:25

, thanks so much for the tips everyone..am working my way through websites now..is there any lind of link to the how to look good maked show?, my norks are 38D and look quite good with a nice underwired/push up bra!
