Spring/Summer jacket

I need an outfit for ds's Christening at the end of the month but also really desperately need a smart jacket that's not black so I thought I'd choose the jacket and then get the rest of the outfit to go with it (or hopefully discover that I already own the rest of the outfit actually).

Money is tight but I'm going shopping with my mum on Saturday and she will probably help out because she's lovely like that .

I love these from Hobbs but they are £££

This sort of thing would probably go with other stuff I already own

Love this whole outfit

Any ideas? High street pref so I can try stuff on.

M&S often have surprisingly good jackets, also Principles

Don't see anything I'm keen on in Principles, but I quite like this one from M&S thanks.

I think the first hobbs jacket is very lovely, you'd probably wear it forever, I have large boobs, so tend to stick to dark stuff on top.

Are you going to go and try it on?

shonaspurtle · 09/05/2007 12:31

Oh yes... and then if it suits me all the cheaper stuff will be ruined for me

oh that kind of dilemma isn't good, but for a special occassion plus 1 million other uses it works out very reasonably really... okay I will go away....

I hope you find something lovely.

Begone foul temptress!

I am not here honest

shonaspurtle · 12/05/2007 19:21

Well, I tried on the linen jacket in Hobbs... and it wasn't that nice on. Weirdly short sleeves that don't really show in the photo & don't suit the rest of the jacket really.

So that would have been £150 saved (sort of ) except that I bought this one ... but I've got bag/shoes/skirt/top that look great with it so it's a bargain really .

My mum went halfers on it and will wear it to a wedding in the summer she says (she's such a star )

I am impressed, was hobbs the first place you went?

what will you be wearing with the lovely jacket?

do you have shoes?

and I can't help but that you actually bought a more expensive one, and your mum is a star!

We met up in John Lewis so I tried the jacket on in the Hobbs concession fairly early on and then we went all over but I really didn't see anything else.

I think I was swayed ultimately by the fact that the skirt I'll be wearing was bought in Hobbs about 3 years ago and had a pink jacket that went with it which I didn't buy because I couldn't afford it. I've always kind of regretted it. The skirt is cream with a dark/pale pink, beige and black pattern and I've got a wrap top in a slightly paler shade of pink than the jacket. I'll either wear a bag & shoes that are the darker pink of the skirt or black bag & shoes.

Anyway, I love the jacket so (justify, justify) better to spend money on that if I can rather than end up panic buying something that costs £70 at the last minute that I end up wearing once...

I love the green jacket, with maybe a navy patterned skirt, what colouring have you got ?

shonaspurtle · 13/05/2007 17:07

Yes the green jacket was lovely but I went for the pink to match an outfit I already own.

I have very fair skin & red hair so again, the green would seem like the best option but actually I suited the pink just as well.
