My hair is fucked

Looking for some advice.

DD is 4.5 and my hair hasn't recovered... it's fine, wispy and has lost its body.

It used to be really curly - think looser than Carrie Bradshaw - and as long.

Is there anything I can do to help it? I'm taking vitamins and if you search my other threads I have been through a tumultuous start to 2018

I've been attempting the curly girl which doesn't seen to make much difference. I'm half in a mind to get it all chopped off - I wear it back all the time.

I'm 44 if that makes a difference. Not peri menopausal just anxious and can't eat and have lost 2 stone in 2 months which won't be helping

Get your thyroid and iron levels checked .

Kelsoooo · 25/03/2018 14:52

Hair skin and nails supplements containing biotin and selenium
Nexuss shampoo and conditioner

Don’t tie it back and use as little heat as possible,

Hiya, I have alopecia and shaved my head for charity (so relaxing lol) and these are what I use to help my hair grow (I'm also pregnant so that's added shit and giggles for fun lol)

Banana and beer hair mask, put on dry hair and then wrap in climglim for an hour then wash out.

Argan oil shampoo or treatment masks.

Vosene once a week - don't use products so this jist cleans my hair out.

There are treatments out there such as Nioxin - I have used it and got chemical burns for my trouble - cousin has used it and it worked for her but it is expensive.

Other shampoos like Plantar or the caffeine based ones are option too - Alepcin?

Hope that helps

Thanks guys!

Bloods are fine

I feel so guilty being annoyed about this as DSIS has had varying degrees of alopecia since she was a teenager.... I'm starting to begin to understand a tiny bit of what she might have been going through Sad

My hair is in a terrible state and is is making me miserable . I have a thyroid problem an low iron levels . Does HRT help with hair ? I’ve started it to help bones, as family history of osteoporosis . I’m worried it might make my hair worse.... fine, wispy, not growing as it breaks off . I saw my GP who said “well what do you expect me to do about it? “ . . So am not sure how that leaves me . I sympathise op . Have chopped mine pretty short but wonder if I need to go for a crop. Sad

Same here after pregnancy. My hair is breaking and shedding so much I don't know what to do. I do take vitamins.

Extensive blood work has been done for something unrelated. I am low in ferritin but I am on supplements.

Does biotin have any side effects?

Oh that is cheering wizard . I’ve only started it recently. This is my third month. I am taking iron and my levels are increasing slowly. I’d had a couple of years of very long periods and heavy flooding, that seemed to strike the death knell for my hair !

NC4Now · 25/03/2018 18:38

My hair was knackered by bayalage. I’ve just chopped it off into a long bob. I’m 41 and its freshened up my look, I think.
My long hair was making me look old.

Have you tried Sea Kelp? My hairdresser swears by it. You can buy it in Holland & Barrett.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/03/2018 21:34

If your not eating your body won’t waste what nutrients you do give it on hair.

Trooperslane2 · 26/03/2018 14:05

Yes Fluffy that is very front of mind too.

Thanks for tips - I'm in town this pm and will buy a few bits recommended and report back
