Help! My dh has bought himself the most unflattering, horrible pair of trousers to wear to a party. It is ESSENTIAL that we find some nice ones online that I can buy him

because he bought himself a pair of trousers from Banana Republic in the states (think upmarekte Gap) and they are vile.

Brown, 'relaxed fit', which means they are BAGGY, with POCKEST ON THE ARSE that make his lovely shape look all horrid and wrong

Trouble is, he is crap at 'smart casual'. He looks fabby in a suit, or in jeans and a band t-shirt, but hasnt got the inbetween bit right.

HELP!

Quickly put them in a boil wash to kill them so they can't come out again.

Don't know what market you are in but Paul Smith jeans are really good fit - specially for slimmer man.

AnAngelWithin · 09/05/2007 10:16

lol men!

Enid · 09/05/2007 10:17

He needs something, not jeans (atlhough thanks for that noodle, he likes paul smith), that he can wear with a nice shirt for a smartish party.

PS does nice cord jeans and other "casual" trous.

fishie · 09/05/2007 10:18

what about boden, there's 10% extra off menswear this week. although snigger perhaps not.

Enid · 09/05/2007 10:19

these are they in Dark Bark

believe me they look so frumpy on

god no not Boden [horrified]

Urk, they do look a bit grim. God, I don't know, Gap? I think anything between suits and jeans is tricky for men. Dh would probably want to wear shorts, frankly.

NoodleStroodle · 09/05/2007 10:20

Yes I can see why a mistake - no tailoring. Probably look a bit like PJs after a whiile. Boden ones weren't that bad...perhaps in a more neutral clour like navy.

WendyWeber · 09/05/2007 10:22

Don't men wear chinos any more? I always think pale chinos with a coloured shirt look lovely.

(My DH looks weird whatever he wears because he's a funny shape )

Enid · 09/05/2007 10:22

it will be smartish

no shorts or jeans

he is not confident enough to say fuck it I will wear jeans, he wants to do it right

debenhams? [clutches straws]

menswear online is jeans or gnarled stuff only.

Enid · 09/05/2007 10:23

he used to have a pair of fine corduroy jeans from Racing Green yonks ago which were lovely

and a pair of stone coloured posh trousers from some designer also lovely

Well he got it wrong with BR trous and is not to be trusted again. Is Boden really out of the question...

NoodleStroodle · 09/05/2007 10:24

What happened to Rcing Green - loved their stuff.

Enid · 09/05/2007 10:25

these are nice but about £100 too expensive

noodle they sold out to arcadia (home of topshop) then got sold on

I used to work there when it first started and still have some samples - they must be 13 years old and still look fabby

NoodleStroodle · 09/05/2007 10:29

Those are dry clean only which could cause us a few problems.

Do Monsoon man have anything? Are you near a John Lewis? Do Jigsaw still do men - DH has gorgeous moleys from there. Reiss?

Enid · 09/05/2007 10:36

jigsaw went very 'gay' then stopped doing it

could try reiss I suppose

M&S online is quite good. They do some nice casual trousers.

lucykate · 09/05/2007 10:39

monsoon had some lovely clothes for men, we looked there for dh a few weeks ago when he needed lightweight stuff for a trip to singapore.

bozza · 09/05/2007 10:40

Enid · 09/05/2007 10:40

OP posts:
NoodleStroodle · 09/05/2007 10:40
