Hamble oak dilemma please help

CuckooCuckooClock · 24/03/2018 10:12

First venture into Hamble oaks - I ordered both dark tan and patent black to choose between but I love them both!

Dh hates the brown ones but I think they look good with navy and will look better with bare legs should it ever be that warm. He also thinks the tan are too casual for work but I think he's coming at it from a man's dress code and I don't need to be super smart for work (sometime I wear trainers with wide legs and nobody notices).

I usually where black or navy trousers or skirts for work.

Which shall I keep?

Or shall I keep both even though I already have too many shoes?

I cannot make this decision alone.

Keep both. Grin I love mine and DD keeps pinching them for school.

I wear my patent black ones to death in the autumn and spring but my brown ones much less. Work wardrobe v similar to yours by the sound of it. Though do wear my brown ones with jeans at the weekend occasionally. I also have navy snakeskin ones which get quite a lot of wear.

Thank you. Am leaning towards black ones.

Oh gosh OP, those are gorgeous. I haven't worn my brogues for a long time, am digging them out to choose outfits for the week. Think I've forgotten how to wear them. And really want those black patent ones. How will you style them?

Girlwiththearabstrap · 24/03/2018 11:40

Oh both definitely! They have such different functions! I wear my patent ones with dresses/skirts and opaques, and my brown ones with bare ankles and trousers. Occasionally jeans or a casual dress at the weekend. They are so so comfy. I've got a pewter pair as well that I love.

CuckooCuckooClock · 24/03/2018 12:35

They're beaut aren't they, right
The black ones will be for skirts and tights but I'm hoping they'll look OK with cropped slim leg trousers and bare ankles. I also have a black and white boucle dress that I think they'll look good with.

I thought the brown ones would look good with wide leg trousers and a blouse. I'm imagining I'll look a bit Katherine Hepburn but I won't!
Need to have a major trying on session.

Yes girl they're so different I really could use both. But I would feel guilty. Clarks is quite expensive for me. I usually buy shoes for £8 in the new look sale but I'm starting to get a bunion so I think that needs to stop. It's practically a health purchase isn't it. A medical need.

Honestly id get the black. I fell in love with a silver pewter pair and got them, but actually they dont really go with as much as I thought.

However they are very very comfy and a good shoe. I would recommend them but I wish I had bought a colour that suited my lifestyle more. If you will realistically wear the black more times, then buy the black.

Becauseimworthit79 · 24/03/2018 14:21

I’ve got a black pair and dark tan pair, because I love them so much!

Doobigetta · 24/03/2018 14:24

I wear my brown ones a lot with navy. I find them too warm to wear in summer though, I swap to lighter loafers or ballet pumps when it gets warm.

GrannyGrissle · 24/03/2018 16:38

Keep both. You'll end up owning shed loads of them anyway (they bring out new colour ways all the time). The are also always in the sale (alongside everything else) so if you only keep one pair get the others once they are £20?

ArkAtEee · 24/03/2018 16:57

I have the black patent and wear them loads. I would also love a tan pair and may invest for the summer. So I would... Keep them both! (If finances allow, obviously.)

Helspopje · 24/03/2018 16:59

I wear my silver ones and my navy patent with ribbon laces a lot. Not so keen on the plain ones though.

Helspopje · 24/03/2018 17:03

Quite like the netley rose ones

Did you see the 20% off code?

bastardkitty · 24/03/2018 17:15

I'm not saying how many pairs I have but it's a lot. Keep both, if you can afford to.

Lonesurvivor · 24/03/2018 17:19

I have the Tan and love them but I'm hankering after the black too. I've a voucher for a shoe store that sells them so your post has made me decide I'm getting the black now!

CuckooCuckooClock · 24/03/2018 17:37

Oh yes the netley rose look nice too.

Thanks for all the replies.

I can just about afford them both but it does seem greedy. S and b are such a bunch of enablers!

Def keeping the black ones. Just have to do some outfit maths to make sure the brown go with enough stuff to keep too. I did get the 20% off so that feels slightly better. It's just a trade off between the joy of beautiful new shoes and the guilt of yet more shoes.

Dh is a real buzz kill when it comes to new purchases - he can't see the point of more than 1 pair of shoes and reckons I shouldn't buy any more until the ones I've got have worn out. I know deep down he's right but you only live once ...

PetiteMarseillaise · 24/03/2018 17:49

I really like those and totally regret not buying a pair of the silver pewter ones - does anyone know if they'll ever come back in that colour? I keep looking and hoping every so often...

OP, if I were you, I'd keep both colours!

bastardkitty · 24/03/2018 17:52

There are lots of the pewter ones on ebay!

ArkAtEee · 24/03/2018 18:03

M&S have some silver ones (which I also have) that are really nice: www.marksandspencer.com/leather-block-heel-brogue-shoes/p/p60139661?image=SD_01_T02_8311_XX_X_EC_90&color=SILVER&prevPage=srp

CuckooCuckooClock · 24/03/2018 18:38

Those silver m and s ones are fab.
