How can I quickly distress rose gold leather Hi Top trainers without spending a year wandering around looking like Elton John?

Just that really. I know metallics etc won't be popular forever, hence why I've got some rose gold (shiny!) Ash trainers at a good price in the sale. I really do like them but they are so new and bloody box fresh!

Run them over! Grin
I did this years ago with a barbour jacket, it did work.

Omg car or tractor??

I had an obnoxiously pink pair of Stan Smiths which got significantly distressed after my Jack Russell got his fangs into them Angry. So my advice is borrow a small terrier and leave them unattended with the shoes for 10 minutes.

go running in them, surely

Snooks1971 · 23/03/2018 21:00

Thanks for the helpful comments Grin
Elderly cat wouldn't enjoy a visit from a terrier for any reason
And I'd look even more of a twat going running in them than if I was just pootling around in the Co Op with them on Grin

My Golden Retriever would be happy to sleep on them for you
He wouldn’t chew them, he would just take them to bed and lie on them
He loves cats too so that wouldn’t be a problem
Alternatively
When I had to make an urchin costume for DS we rubbed a tshirt on my car, worth a go?

choppolata · 23/03/2018 21:09

Go to a gig in them & be the designated beer fetcher.

Snooks1971 · 23/03/2018 21:09

Oh Hopping I would happily borrow him he sounds like a dish Smile
Good idea re the car rubbing - I might just keep stamping on them, like treading grapes?!

shingley beach?? lots of scuffing and kicking of stones/sand, scrabbling over rocks. don't fall and break a hip though

fairylightseverywhere · 23/03/2018 21:13

Sandpaper? Quite fine rather than the super rough stuff!

Snooks1971 · 23/03/2018 21:13

Choppolata I can't be bothered, maybe I could pay someone to wear them in. Although ds1 wouldn't be seen dead in them!

Snooks just gently nudge them with your car, perhaps the edges, it will work.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/03/2018 22:27

Just embrace your inner Elton John , it has to be the easier option?
