Help! I have to go out with Young People

Please help me find something to wear on a hen party.

I'm 5'7ish, size 8-10ish and most at home in trainers, scruffy jeans and t shirts.

I need a trousers (preferably jeans) based outfit to wear out with the Youth (I'm >35, they're ~25).

I don't even know what people wear 'out' nowadays. (I swear the last time I went out it was 2003 and that was to grungy grubby 'alternative' type places)

They're all going glam dresses, but I can't wear dresses. At all. Not even ones with pockets. Or heels.

I need to blend in, look like I've made an effort, without looking too scruffy and without spending a fortune.

Please help me, I'm out of my depth!

Something like this?

What about a jumpsuit?

I don't/can't wear them, but I'm only 5ft 3.

At 5'7 and an 8-10 figure, it would be stunning on you. Far more comfortable than a dress too

DomesticAnarchist · 23/03/2018 17:14

Ooh thanks @Celticlassie, that's good!

@Annabelle4 I've only ever seen a jumpsuit look good on someone once. Jumpsuits just make everyone's arse look terrible. They never even look good on models!

I'll eat my words if you find a good one!

Any suggestions on shoes? Although it's supposed to be cold & snowy again so maybe I'll stick with my bovver boots

My advice would be don't try to blend in. Go as you, but 'fancy' you. You'll feel much more comfortable IME.

DomesticAnarchist · 24/03/2018 12:27

Thanks @thedevilinablackdress, that's good advice.

I think that's what I'm going for. I've ordered some black coated jeans and that green cami. Hopefully should be comfortable but the effort should clear too.

I'm so rubbish at this "woman" malarkey.

That sounds great. Have fun!

Celticlassie · 24/03/2018 20:14

Enjoy!

That cami is lovely I would add these shoes for a colour clash. You'll look awesome!!

That's lovely. I totally disagree about jumpsuits though - they don;t suit everyone but they can look amazing.

For example...
