I have bought this dress for my nieces wedding. Total bargain - £99 down to £49 the an extra 15% off so got it for £41.

The wedding is at the end of May in Scotland so it could be roasting or could be snowing! I like it because it has 3/4 length sleeves, is a dark colour but is also very light and swingy (for dancing!). It fits me so well.

I, unlike the tall, young, slim model, am a size 16, medium height and in my mid 50's. I do have a picture of me in the dress but in the changing room so not the best!

I love the cerise colour and am tempted to pick out that. I do love to match shoes and bag but that maybe isn't done these days? Do i need a wrap, jacket, light cashmere poncho?

I have amazing Tiffany silver ball earrings i plan to wear with it. They will echo the silver stud wrap bit.

Any ideas. I am open to any suggestions at all.

Thanks

Have you got the dress? Because the pink looks more a coral/orange rather than a cerise on my screen. I’d hate you to buy accessories in the wrong shade.

Are you close family? Will you be needing a hat, jacket etc.
A wrap would be a great option as, as you say the weather could be either way. I’d go for a blue wrap or a blue jacket if you can find a blazer type jacket in the right shade.

i think that's lovely.
By cerise do you mean the colour of the belt thingy at the waist?

blueskyinmarch · 22/03/2018 13:38

Yes the belt thing is a cerise/fuschia colour. The base colour of the dress is black so i wouldn't wear blue with it. I know there is paler blue in the dress but that isn't a colour i ever wear. I have blond/pale silver grey hair and pink is definitely the colour for me!

I am close to my niece and am doing a reading at the wedding. However it isn't an over the top formal, glam wedding. I am not wearing a hat!

Lovely dress - I've just bought a Phase Eight dress to go to a May wedding (not Scotland though).

I am wearing pashmina for the church as my dress is sleeveless, non matching bag and shoes as IMHO that is very dated.

If I was wearing your dress I'd go for either bright cerise bag or shoes and the other would be black.

I think it might be hard to get a jacket that suits the shape of the dress, so I'd probably not go for a jacket.

I have a nice Mulberry black bag which had silver trimmings. It isn't really weddingy but it is roomy and I like to have 'stuff' with me! Maybe pink shoes? Or black bag and shoes and a pink wrap/poncho?

It looks lovely on you Op, defiantly go for pink shoes and black bag. A cashmere wrap would be an elegant but warm touch, loving the sound of your silver earings!

blueskyinmarch · 22/03/2018 14:00

Occams.

I agree, pink shoes, black bag.

blueskyinmarch · 22/03/2018 19:14

I have ordered these shoes. I know this style is not everyone's cup of tea but they are a good height for me and I like them!

I think your outfit (the dress, those shoes and earrings plus the black bag and a pink wrap) sounds fabulous

Laska5772 · 22/03/2018 19:21

how about a Fuschia bag?

blueskyinmarch · 22/03/2018 19:23

Laska that bag is a good colour but soooo small. I think I will just use my black one. I will take a pic of it. It might not really be quite right but it is roomy!

This is the only black bag I own. Will it work?

Bigger pink Bag!! good price

some lovely Michael Kors1 ones also if you have £££!!

or Boden also £££ though Sad

Laska5772 · 22/03/2018 19:42

Your bag is fine , no ones really going to be looking at your bag and it will be under the table a lot.. its just that a wedding outfit is a good excuse for a nice new bag! Wink

Laska5772 · 22/03/2018 19:43

..pink bag would be better though!! enabling

Thebluedog · 22/03/2018 19:45

Looks fab on you OP

blueskyinmarch · 22/03/2018 19:45

They are all lovely bags but at that price I would want it to be perfect and they all have gold trims not silver. Thank you anyway. There is still plenty time before there wedding. I will wait to see if the shoes fit first then think about bags!

I would use the Mulberry, classic and quality enough to go with anything. Lovely dress!

verite · 22/03/2018 22:16

I am your bag twin!
