Two questions - best online beauty site and what brand for a 16 year old?

Didn't want to make two threads but what online beauty site would you recommend? And I have NO idea what brands a 16 year old would love but I'm guessing my beloved Boots No 17 doesn't quite cut the mustard these days ...

I'd say they like Benefit (fun and vibrant) Urban Decay (bit edgier) , Bobbi Brown (but girlier) , Clinique (more serious/grownup/skin)
That's my
Take!

Thank you, it's a bloody minefield! I'm having a look on All Beauty and hope I can find something lovely for her.

Apparently Glossier is extremely desirable, and designed for young skins. (Great shrieks of delight at a Glossier lip gloss Christmas present from my 16 year old - I had never heard of it.)

She was the one shrieking, not the one giving...

Anastasia Beverly Hills, morphe, urban decay

endofacentury · 21/03/2018 19:30

Beauty bay for ordering

Lifeaback · 21/03/2018 19:34

Beauty bay/feel unique are good for ordering as they stock a ton of different brands. In terms of brands- benefit, urban decay, mac, morphe, Anastasia Beverly Hills, glossier are all very popular for teens/young adults

Fullfatlatte · 21/03/2018 19:35

Makeup for that age def MAC or Kiko! Skincare, I would def say Clinique (always used that late teens/early twenties before I switched to Clarins & a few others along the way! never liked Estée Lauder, probably because it always seemed for older ladies...my mum always used!). I’ve recently discovered Bobbi Brown now in my mid/late 40’s & it suits my skin. Possibly not ‘young’ enough for a 16yr old though.

Agree with Benefit being vibrant but it’s expensive for what you get, better stuff out there!

Good luck 😀

Beauty bay, has lots of brands YouTube beauty gurus use.

OCSockOrphanage · 21/03/2018 20:30

MAC or Glossier, especially Glossier, for young people. All the rest are (according to my local sales assistants) the territory of the 40+. Urban Decay in particular is seen as old. (Sorry). The rest is skincare.

OCSockOrphanage · 21/03/2018 20:30

Nice brushes are always a good present though.

GrannyGrissle · 21/03/2018 20:30

MAC

Hellywelly10 · 21/03/2018 20:34

Id go to superdrug with a teenager. Loads of cheap brands there.

SapphireSeptember · 21/03/2018 21:28

Urban Decay are seen as old? By who? I don't know anyone in the 40+ age bracket who use them!

I was going to say Barry M and Boots Seventeen, although I think the latter are being discontinued. Sad I couldn't afford high end stuff as a 16 year old. Benefit seem very dull to me. High end I'd say Huda Beauty, Violet Voss, Anastasia Beverly Hills.

OCSockOrphanage · 21/03/2018 21:30

In the Southwest, by the sales assistants. I buy UD and I am 61!

SapphireSeptember · 21/03/2018 21:36

Fair enough! I've always thought they were edgy and cool, I aspired to be able to afford their stuff as a teenager. I can now, but only one thing at a time. Smile I'm now going to assume you're cool and a bit edgy too!

OCSockOrphanage · 21/03/2018 22:36

Hate to challenge, but I'm 61. Interested in market so I asked, who buys it, and locally, it is only bought by 35+, which may reflect my view that it is too expensive for most of the lasses it is really aimed at, because locally they cannot really afford it.

SapphireSeptember · 22/03/2018 01:18

It is expensive, I really wanted the Electric palette, then saw how much it cost. Shock So I went and got the Colour Chaos palette by Makeup Revolution instead. Although as a lipstick junkie I like that their lipsticks are slightly cheaper than MAC (and I think they're better than MAC. I've yet to find a MAC lipstick that lasts longer than an hour on me.)

ThisIsTheFirstStep · 22/03/2018 01:43

I think it really depends where you live. Where I am, Mac is for old ladies and Urban Decay is really popular, especially the eyeshadow palettes.

You definitely could not go wrong with the Kylie Jenner lip kit, it is actually really good quality too.
