Wedding outfit dilemma - to wear same dress to an all day wedding and a different evening reception?

Currently dress shopping for a family wedding in mid-May, am going to the whole thing (day and evening) have now also received an evening invite for another wedding a few weeks later (no overlap in guests).

Don't really want to have to spend on 2 outfits - do you think I'd get away with wearing a wedding "day" dress to the "evening only" do too as it is Summer? Can change accessories if required.

Not been as an evening guest for some years so out of touch as to how different the dress code is likely to be?

Absolutely! I wore the same dress to two different weddings within a month of each other last year. There was one guest overlap and obviously there were photos posted on social media but no one mentioned it once.

I would, especially as there's not much overlap of guests.

@perfectlyPosed
Thanks, I'm not worried about wearing it twice as such - its whether a dress that has been worn to an "all day wedding" is appropriate for the "evening only do" of the other wedding IYSWIM

Other guests at the evening do will have been there all day though? So you won't look odd. Can't really say without seeing the dress, but I can't see why it would be an issue.

Almost certainly! It might be a bit odd if, say, a man wore a morning suit to an evening function - but even then, if that were the dress code for the day part of the wedding there would be other people wearing that stuff anyway

@spam88
That is what I was hoping!
I've not chosen the dress for the family wedding yet, just ordered about 20 online to try at home as I live rurally so getting to the shops is a faff. But my focus is on getting that outfit right as I'll be in loads of photos and in it all day. I often end up in Phase Eight dresses as they seem to fit me.

The evening do is a cousin of DH, he has not seen them for years - so whilst I want to look nice for it I'm not as bothered as it is only for 4 hours and I doubt anyone will care/remember! We're in process of moving house so trying to keep the £ under control where I can.

Absolutely. Only 1 outfit required.
