For her 11th birthday party.

Pink or gold?

I think the River Island is too grown up for a 10/11 year old.

I also like the third one you’ve posted OP.

PasstheStarmix · 15/03/2018 22:05

The third one I like better than the first two.

FrustratedDotCom · 15/03/2018 22:07

I suspect if people saw the actual size 10/11 dress instead of the younger cut then they’d like it more. It’s because the photos are using the proportions of a younger age child.

NotTakenUsername · 15/03/2018 22:09

Agree with frustrated.

PurplePirate · 15/03/2018 22:11

People are rude. Why can't she wear what she likes!

My 10 yo hasn't been near a dress in years and I would love it if she dressed up once in a while.

And if her friends tease her then they aren't her friends.

Youcallthatgreen · 15/03/2018 22:13

I don't get the issue?
The girl has a style she likes and likes the dress. So let her wear it.
The issue, I think is that the picturrs make them look like baby dresses because of the length. They would look much different with a longer skirt.
The pink is the better one.

Youcallthatgreen · 15/03/2018 22:15

I guess this is what the dresses would look like in the right size?

I don't like the RI dress at all.

PasstheStarmix · 15/03/2018 22:19

The third dress OP posted is really pretty, not too babyish and not too grown up; it’s a happy medium.

upsideup · 15/03/2018 22:22

This is what the first pink dress looks like in age 6, we would get dd age 10 so would be bigger.

I love the third one too.

SleepingStandingUp · 15/03/2018 22:24

That is beautiful OP, that last one. She's not a baby, she knows what she wants, let her. Ask this "what will her friend say?" Is that really how we want to raise our daughters? How about we raise them to not be bitchy about other people's clothing choices?

PurplePirate · 15/03/2018 22:28

They are all beautiful dresses and all age appropriate. What matters most is what your DD wants.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 15/03/2018 22:28

I like the pink one and the third one better. The RI one is lovely but I think it’s a grown up style. If the dd likes the dresses pictured then why on earth shouldn’t she wear them. A girl came to ds1’s 10th birthday in a very similar dress and nobody batted an eye in fact several of the girls were very envious of it which suggests they too have parents telling them these styles are too babyish and the should be wearing something else.

God dd would have loved that at aged 10. Now at nearly 15 I’d love to get her in to any dresses.

Shockers · 15/03/2018 22:29

I worked in yr6 for years. Girls have gone to the leavers’ disco in all styles of dresses/jeans/jumpsuits etc.
If your DD wants that dress, let her have it (in pink!). The last one you posted is really lovely though.

Ikeepaforkinmypurse · 15/03/2018 22:30

I think the Pink is much prettier, but I agree about it looking a bit young.

This is more the style mine would wear

I'm rather envious that your dd still likes dresses like that! My dd will be 11 soon but is all about New Look! Puberty has hit too and she's all boobs and hips so I don't think she'd even fit properly in those lovely dresses any more 😪 I like the second one.

DunnoWhy · 15/03/2018 22:34

No, these dresses are not too young for an 11 year old girl.
My dd had a prom at the end of primary school and half of the girls aged 11, came with full heavy make-up, hair up-do, long dresses and shawls, big accessories, the whole lot, and looking like 30 years old women rather than 11 yrs. Great shame imo. And the rest wore dresses not so dissimilar to the styles you shown and they were fresh faced and looked gorgeous and just perfect. There are all sorts of tastes and opinions and if she's happy with that dress, she should wear it. Good for her.

FrustratedDotCom · 15/03/2018 22:38

Looking again, I like the first ones best, they are both gorgeous showstopper dresses and will probably be heirlooms!

snowbellj · 15/03/2018 22:39

I like the dress posted by Ikeep. I think the other dresses look more suited to 5-8 year olds.
What kind of party is your dd having?

upsideup · 16/03/2018 08:14

Thankyou everyone, I think dd has decided to go for the first pink one.
