Which concealer do you love?

I am finally replacing all of budget Avon makeup with decent stuff. I have dark circles under my eyes and I need a decent concealer.

I tried Benefit Boing but I really don't like it, it seems to emphasise the problem rather than hide it.

There are 18 make up revolution ones! Do they have testers instore?

DextroDependant · 10/03/2018 18:00

Wow lots of recommendations here.

I live the double wear foundation, best thing I have ever bought.

I like concealer with a wand as I like to apportion a triangle under my eyes.

I would prefer matte over anything shimmery like touche eclat.

Definitely try a corrector underneath a concealer. Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier do brilliant ones.

If you have blue/purple toned dark circles look for a peachy coloured corrector.
If you have brown toned circles go for a pinky coloured one.

Then you put a corrector close to your skin tone on top of that. Though you might not need both.

I'm cool pale white with dark blue in corners of eyes. I use Laura Mercier secret concealer in 1 with Nars creamy concealer in light 1 Chantilly. I've had Bobbi Brown corrector in light bisque and I think that works slightly better than the LM.

BB do great concealers actually, there's a newish one out that very good. (Serum concealer I think?) If you can get to a counter they give good advice.

I do fancy the taste shape tape though.

What order do they go in? Foundation, corrector, concealer?

Nars is good but if more budget Bourjois healthy mix is also fab.

EnidButton · 10/03/2018 22:41

Yes Dextro. Not much foundation around eyes as I find it can look a bit heavy. But foundation first, than dab of corrector with fingers and then the skin coloured concealer straight on and blended out with a beauty blender.

I say skin coloured, mine is a tiny bit lighter for around my eyes. Only a tiny bit. Just to brighten it up generally.

ladieswholunch · 10/03/2018 22:44

I do concealer first, then foundation and leave to set. Then I do eye makeup, and put a bit more concealer on. Then once set I powder. But there's no set rule, just whatever way works best for you!

Touché Eclait isn’t a concealer and shouldn’t be used as one, it’s a highlighter

On the YSL website Touche Eclat is described as a 'concealer pen' and it specifically mentions that it disguises dark circles, so I'm not sure that's right. I've always found it pretty good but prefer Mr Light by Givenchy.

Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift

I usually do eye make up first , then primer, then foundation and finally concealer. Might try concealer under foundation to see if it helps.

Another shout out to the Bobbi Brown corrector & concealers (I currently use the concealer that has a powder with it & love it), next purchase will be to try the instant coverage as it has fab reviews. I’ve also just tried the Aldi click pen which is actually great & so cheap Smile

Titaniumpins · 10/03/2018 23:01

Oh I used the benefit one after using touche ecalit (it stopped cutting the mustard lol) for years think the benifts one is pretty good but I'm with you I dont like it. Then i got a very expensive bobbi brown one - liquid with an applicator. I do like it but not the price tag so glad to see this thread shall be giving some of these others a go.

Fullfatlatte · 10/03/2018 23:07

Dextro. I use corrector first then concealer, then either my tinted moisturiser or foundation stick then a touch more concealer if needed on blemishes then a touch of powder where needed to set Smile

userxx · 10/03/2018 23:18

@CointreauVersial it's brilliant isn't it. Definitely beats some of the more expensive ones in my opinion.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I have the Shape Tape too but think I prefer NRCC, though that could be because the shade Chantilly is really pale, which I need, and ST doesn't go as pale.

fredabear · 11/03/2018 16:32

Bobbi brown serum concealer here treats and conceals in one

DextroDependant · 11/03/2018 17:01

So many options now. I want to try them all.

I'm using the Joan Collins concealer from M&S which I like. Usually purchase m&s when I get 20% off. Never ever thought I'd buy in to any celeb products but was surprised this time. I think I got the recommendation on MN.

Ofthread · 14/03/2018 20:05

I just went out and bought two concealers due to this thread. Baaaaaaa

stoplickingthetelly · 14/03/2018 21:46

I use clarins first in shade 2 then bobbi brown instant concealer in shade ivory over the top. Seems to work pretty well.

madmomma · 15/03/2018 08:45

I've got bad dark circles and haven't found anything to beat the bobbi brown system, including the eye cream with primer, corrector then concealer and power. They look shit without that particular eye cream underneath though. I bloody wish I could find a cheaper way of getting those results.

monday1983 · 16/03/2018 08:11

the aldi one isn't good if you have very dark circles , just got one last week and unfortunately doesn't cover my dark circles...
