Looks like another store with big problems ☹️

See I don't know any town near me that has more than one new look and the one in the closest city is so pathetic and tiny I don't even go in when I'm there.

I stopped shopping there probably about 5yrs ago, I noticed the quality was awful. And I get so frustrated that whenever I find shoes I like they are always "wide fitting" ones which are far too big for me.

Dd(14) is a big new look fan but I've told her to use up her gift card ASAP

goingtotown · 07/03/2018 20:12

So they have 593 branches & closing 60.

redmarkone · 07/03/2018 20:14

i used to shop there until about 3 years ago as i thought it was not much better than primark quality but a lot more expensive. their accessories and bags used to be great but i've found them dated and cheap looking.

i now shop at sainsburys for work trousers/jeans, whistles for statement items and asos /primark for cheaper items.

MadisonAvenue · 07/03/2018 20:17

purpleme I feel the same about shopping for clothes. I want to see them and try them on before buying, I can't be doing with the faff of returning items if they're not suitable.

redmarkone · 07/03/2018 20:17

oh actually i do shop at new look via asos but only when sale priced. shops are so messy and look dated\1

megletthesecond · 07/03/2018 20:21

The were great around a decade ago for shoes and maternity clothes.

ReggaetonLente · 07/03/2018 20:24

They used to be one of my go-tos too but I can’t remember the last time I even went in, let alone bought something there.

I feel like they’re ever so slightly behind the trends compared to other shops, and every season everything in there seems to be the same colour!

troodiedoo · 07/03/2018 20:24

They've got lazy since ordering online and delivering to stores came in. Which should be free and quicker.

LaGattaNera · 07/03/2018 20:26

Ah ok maybe it only came to my area in 1993 - I grew up in Surrey and moved to Berkshire and there were none that I recall till 1993.

purpleme12 · 07/03/2018 20:27

Exactly Madisonavenue.
I don't really get all this comparing it to primark. I don't shop at primark cos the clothes are not fitted. Fitted clothes look good on me, others don't on the whole. Maybe they are fitted on other people but they never compliment my body. I'll get pyjamas and stuff from there but most of the clothes have never been wow. And the quality's worse which is fine cos you get what you pay for.
Even in other shops it's a push to find things that I like/my style AND that fit me and compliment me so I rarely find things. At least new look is another option.

RavenLG · 07/03/2018 20:33

the plus size range has really gone downhill
Yup, I used to love NL but the plus size range is shite! Hardly any choice and all really fuck ugly. I've not bought from them for ages and they used to be my go to.

meandmytinfoilhat · 07/03/2018 20:35

Is it bad that I hope my store card disappears if they fold?

SadieHH · 07/03/2018 20:48

Yes agree about the plus size range. I used to buy a lot in there but haven’t in years.

On that note does anyone remember Rogers and Rogers? They were the plus size store for Jeffrey Rogers and their range was fab. For the 20something I was to Jane plus size clothes that were made for my age and not my mum’s was amazing. Then they disappeared not to be seen since.

SadieHH · 07/03/2018 20:48

*to have plus size clothes...

Blankscreen · 07/03/2018 23:05

We LL seem to be saying the same good ten years ago and basically stopped bothering shopping in there about 5 years ago.

StormTreader · 08/03/2018 11:00

All their plus sizes are nasty frilly sacks. I used to love it there 15 years ago now I occasionally pop in and usually leave disappointed.

Annabelle4 · 08/03/2018 11:06

The one in my town is beside Primark and I find Primark have pretty much the same clothes or quality of clothes but almost half the price.
I'm not surprised at all.

Mind you I bought an entire wardrobe of maternity clothes there when pregnant with DS and it was perfect. They were really stylish and exactly what I wear when I'm not pregnant. I was gutted not to be able to wear them again Blush

Embekkisson1 · 08/03/2018 11:10

I go in My local store about once a month when clothes shopping for teenage Dd. The clothes rails are absolutely jammed packed , sometimes it’s hard to differentiate between any items they are so tightly packed . Some clothes are on rails so high up you have to crane your neck to look let alone reach . Their clothes are £5 too expensive , this is what happened to marks and Spencer’s , my Dd finds £15.99 for a plain black sweatshirt too expensive . £10.99 maybe worth trying on . Their staples are not quality enough for the expense and they are beginning to look flat instead of quirky . The shoes are still good but all the sizes 6/7 are sold out . We always have to look at second best , why don’t they order more stock of the regular shoe sizes .

WhereAreWeNow · 08/03/2018 12:38

I saw this news and wondered why on earth they're opening a massive new flagship store on Oxford St (approx. 5 mins walk from an existing branch, 15 mins walk from another huge branch up at Marble Arch end). Seems like bad planning!

silkpyjamasallday · 08/03/2018 14:39

I used to shop in new look for 'going out' clothes and shoes because they were cheap, but I don't think I've been into one in a decade and from looking online it's a lot more expensive than it used to be. The last thing I bought in there was a beaded chiffon dress with pockets from the Taylor Momsen collection, that was in 2010 when I was 15. I'm going to see if I can dig it out as I absolutely loved it and had totally forgotten about it until now!

DotCottonDotCom · 08/03/2018 15:55

I started going back into New Look in the last year and every branch i went to was an untidy dive!

Elllicam · 08/03/2018 16:03

It’s not great for basics, everything lately has seemed slightly ‘off’. For example I got some lovely looking organic cotton tshirts from New Look online only to find when I put them on that they had a really weird short waist so that if I moved my arms at all my belly was exposed. There always seems to be something, weird zips, funny appliqué, odd peepholes on tops.

AgathaMystery · 08/03/2018 16:06

Agree re: Debenhams. It's actually horrible! It's just a pricey John Lewis. I saw a mouse running across the cafe floor of our local store last week. Shudder

strawberrysparkle · 08/03/2018 16:06

I used to love new look! It was a step above primark but still cheap. I would get a lot of work clothes and going out dresses but now I think it's a bit trashy, maybe I'm just getting old!

Saying that I did get some maternity clothes from there.

demirose87 · 08/03/2018 16:10

I haven't shopped there for years. I used to get most of my clothes there, now I just don't see anything I like. It's mostly just tat.
