Do you have a “uniform”?

I have realised that in recent years I have by default adopted a bit of a uniform. So when I am not at work it’s usually black or grey skinny jeans and with some sort of top - at the moment it’s usually a grey or blue cashmere jumper. For work it’s similar except it’s usually a black or grey skirt with black opaque tights. I do have various other lovely things in my wardrobe but I just find that many outfits require quite a lot of planning to avoid looking frumpy - the right shoes, the right coat , etc.

Anyone else?

I’m a few months into a new job where there is no dress code so I’m a bit confused at the moment. Old job was very Office-dress, not quite suits but smart dresses and trousers, tops etc.

I’m still wearing some of my old clothes but I’m also enjoying being able to wear jeans and a jumper to work, usually with ankle boots and a scarf because it’s so cold - which is what I generally wear outside work anyway.

I have a few of the Becca jumpers but stupidly never thought of layering them with a long sleeved T-shirt.

I've found that mine has evolved over time. Five years ago it was tea dresses and cardigans and colourful tights, then it was skinny jeans in various colours with pointy studded buckled boots and leather jacket.
Now it's more sport lux: t-shirt dresses, leggings, lots of black mesh, an ever growing trainer collection.

It’s really interesting that a lot of us have certain “looks” that we rely on.

When I was younger my look was a lot more eclectic I guess, but now (40s, so not completely ancient yet) I am more aware of what suits me.

Yes, I wear slightly androgynous / Parisian minimal style

Skinny jeans or leather leggings
Leather skirt
Shirts half tucked in (sleeves rolled up when not completely freezing)
Uniqlo Merino wool / cashmere crew neck sweaters
&otherstories striped breton tops

Pretty much everything is in monochrome (black, white / cream, various shades of grey), navy or light blue chambray

Worn with black ankle boots or stan Smiths

It used to be dresses and tights but since having DD (4 months) it's leggings and the same 4 tops in rotation, they go in the washer and dryer and then worn again. I have enough washing as it is and can't be arsed ironing

Bretons. Too many. DP dispairs, “they’re all the same..” “you’ve got so many...”

Yes, flat ankle boots, leather leggings, a white blouse, and a jacket = my work uniform.

TriHard27 · 06/03/2018 20:33

Yes. Black top, black tights, mini skirt and boots. Every single day in winter. Then in summer I go wild in a black vest and shorts. Every day. Blush

StellaWouldYouTakeMeHome · 06/03/2018 22:17

I wouldn’t say it’s a uniform really but everyone has things they are comfortable in.

I wear Superdry/band tees (but only ever bands I actually like)
Jeans
Converse
My hairs normally straightened

RickOShay · 06/03/2018 22:27

Yes I do.
skinny jeans, black or denim.
long vest
long sleeved top
cashmere jumper
ankle boots
Every single day.

Feel daring if i put on dangly earrings tbh

CakeNinja · 06/03/2018 22:34

I have a wardrobe full of navy dresses. Probably around 20 of various styles. For work, every day I pull one on with either tights or leggings, brogues/flats/boots and off I go. Weekends I don’t give a shit as long as it’s clean, generally dresses and I’m lazy and can’t be arsed with ‘matching’ or tucking things in etc, dresses are easy as they are a complete outfit!
I don’t have a ‘look’ and I most definitely don’t have lots of different ‘looks’! I’m just me in clothes!! You can’t polish a turd as they say Grin

Haffiana · 06/03/2018 22:43

Dress, linen or jersey, with tights, biker or ankle boots or brogues and cardigan in the Winter, dress with bare legs and maybe linen jacket and sandals or some sort of flat plimsoll in the Summer.

I am self-employed, so it is my own choice of dress code, and is the same if I am visiting clients or chilling at the weekend. I just posh up the accessories if necessary.

museypants · 06/03/2018 22:45

Unfortunately yes! Low heel boots of either ankle or knee length, skinny jeans and some kind of jumper/sweater (my current fave is a white loose knit one from the white stuff)

moonmaker · 06/03/2018 22:49

Casual - skinny jeans and long blazer with nice top and Chelsea boots

Fancy - skinny jeans and long blazer with nice top and heels

Work - skinny trousers and long blazer with blouse and ankle boots
