How can I make this dress a little more 'There's 2ft of snow out there'?

Boyfriend got a very well earned new job, and wants to go out tomorrow night to celebrate. The words 'posh' and 'nice place' have been used, and unfortunately I've recently put on enough weight to not be able to zip up any of my old nice dresses (not even close Blush)

I was short on time today and just quickly got this from TKMaxx. Is there any way I can make it actually warm enough to wear in this awful weather?

It's navy, do you reckon some navy tights and boots? Or will it look silly? I can always take it back!

I like it. Navy tights and boots sound good.

pretty dress.
Cardigan sheer tights & boots for walking then pretty shoes to change into inside restaurant?

Sparkly cardi? Or jacket? Opaque tights and ankle boots:

Lovely, thanks for the suggestions! I may have to go cardi shopping tomorrow, I don't own any!

Yes - tights, heeled boots, a long duster coat/faux fur jacket would be perfect. I’m assuming that you won’t be stuck outside much though. If you’re walking a longer distance you could always bring a change of shoes and a scarf etc.

What did you decide in the end OP?
Have a nice evening!
