Great Plains sizing

lesliephillips · 04/05/2007 16:34

I have 2 dresses from Great Plains which fit me well. I have just received 2 pairs of trousers I ordered, same size as the dresses (14) and they don't even go over my (apparently) lardy bum - I wear size 14 from numerous other shops and have toned up a lot recently through gym so had expected these to fit - anyone else had this with GP?

no but thanks for info as was just about to buy some GP stuff... will measure first!

pointydog · 04/05/2007 17:44

mmm, only bought their jeans, all other things tops, but I found the size consistent.

I've been looking through their catalogue and will buy stuff soon so I'll wait to hear replies!

I've just checked sizes, according to site their sizes are same as M&S/Monsoon etc but I can't even get these trousers up to my bottom to attempt to do them up

maybe they've made a mistake with sizing this pair? Sounds abit odd. What a pain though.

pointydog · 04/05/2007 18:22

which dresses did you get?

I like Lucky and Parade

themaskedposter · 04/05/2007 18:29

arms I find restricting and would go a size up... however, I bought a small size halter neck but I bought it in store, in black and if fits fine ... so best to try them on if at all possible (which I realise isn't easy for a lot of people)

I do like their stuff though!

I got the dresses in the sale a couple of months ago and they fit really well, I got roulette and another one which isn't on there now but is similar to lucky. I ordered a skirt with the trousers and it fits fine (looks dreadful on, but that's not their fault ). Maybe I'm jsut the wrong shape for their trousers...

AWWWWWwwwwwwwwww, I love the magic dress but it's out of stock. Bugger it. I've emailed them to find out when it is back in stock. If anyone is interested I will let you know what they have to say. Oh and last year I ordered a couple of the tops and the arms were really tight I've not had that problem anywhere else.

themaskedposter · 04/05/2007 19:16

yes Dances, I find the arms are far too skinny-fied too!

Glad its not only me!

Pollyanna · 04/05/2007 19:19

I got the magic dress this week - it is really nice!

lesliephillips · 04/05/2007 19:34

might swap skirt for magic dress then

what magic dress?

rabbleraiser · 04/05/2007 20:21

I sell quite a bit of GP stuff on eBay. I try everything on first (not just GP), and I would have to admit that their sizings are inconsistent. Many times, I've tried trousers on which say they're a 14 and in my opinion, they're a twelve. Oddly enough, French Connection (who own Great Plains), have the opposite problem with trousers. I tend to find them larger than the stated size most of the time.

The problem with a lot of on-line ordering systems is that you can't check the seam to seam measurements against comparable items in your wardrobe, because they don't give them. I think it's something they need to address, or people are going to be put off.

lesliephillips · 04/05/2007 20:28

this is the magic dress

rabble I agree about FC being a more generous fit - that's partly why I'm so annoyed with GP really. Anyway, I've packaged them to return, along with a note about not even being able to get them on
