Growing out colour/going grey

Hi

Is anyone else growing out their dye and letting the grey come in? I'm about4/5 months in. I've cut it from long to a bob and it doesn't look too bad. ( I think)

Do you find the texture changes?

I stopped dyeing when I started to see a grey stripe at the roots. It's much more subtle now it's evenly distributed, and more salted than peppered. Silver sparkles here and there. The greys are a bit coarse but my hair is generally coarse, so it's not that different. I look like an unremarkable woman in my late 30s, rather than (as I felt before) someone who is letting themselves go. I think if you're going to dye, you need to keep it up or it looks crap, and I wasn't keeping it up. The only way I'd do it again would be if I had a radical change of job and could have it in rainbow colours.

I stopped dyeing mine in August last year but - and this is going to sound nuts - I wasn't grey enough to keep going! I was imagining and hoping for luxuriant silver hair all over (like the women of Instagram's Grombre thread) but what I got was dull mouse brown interspersed with long witchy, wiry strands of grey. It made me look old and unkempt. So for now I'm having a light semi-permanent brown put through every four months as I wait for more grey to come in.

I've done it. It looks like I've got medium brown hair with really well done platinum highlights. I've been getting loads of compliments, and my hair is softer.

I'm about 3 months in and I'm finding that my natural roots seem much less coarse and dry than the rest

That's good to hear. My hair is heavily highlighted blonde, but the grey has reared its head ! I'm thinking of, well I've started actually, growing it out, but will probably go for a light ash blonde or a lilaccy (not a word) blonde.
