Could you help me find a wedding perfume for my sister

She wears Chanel Chance (original and fraiche). And Miss Dior. I’ve been tasked with helping find a wedding perfume for her, and would love some help (I can never search properly on all the perfume threads).

She might like chanel Gabrielle?

Marriageoftrueminds · 25/02/2018 17:29

I often wear Chanel Chance. For my wedding I went for Ted Baker Roses - it’s on similar lines but kind of softer and more classic, and obviously the floral thing has a wedding vibe (we had roses for our bouquets though, don’t know if that affected my choice!)

TallulahBetty · 25/02/2018 17:30

Mine was Romance by Estee Lauder. Lovely smell Smile

wowfudge · 25/02/2018 17:30

Do you know what? Like wedding hairstyles, I think what someone is like or wears normally is what people associate with them and she should stick to what she likes and knows works for her.

Allthebestnamesareused · 25/02/2018 17:34

What Wowfudge says!

Her partner will associate her current perfume as "her" scent!

FairfaxAikman · 25/02/2018 17:36

My DH bought me Pure Poison by Fior for our wedding - just a wee sneaky bit of humour.
There's several in the Poison range, one might suit.

Sparkletastic · 25/02/2018 17:37

'Doe in the Snow' by 4160 Tuesdays would be an amazing wedding perfume. I think it was originally made for a client for that reason.

Sarahh2014 · 25/02/2018 17:39

Chanel mademoiselle

HoneyWheeler · 25/02/2018 17:39

I wore Peony and Blush suede by Jo Malone, which struck me as very weddingy- still love it today

CountFosco · 25/02/2018 18:23

Generally I agree with Wow, if she has a signature scent it would be nice to wear that. If she wants something different then what about getting some sample sets (try Bloom or The Perfume Society or 4160T. Or how about having a perfume making workshop? 4160T do them and the perfumistas on here really rate them.

teta · 25/02/2018 18:24

Something like Beige - Chanel Exclusives or Van Vleef & Arpels California Reverie or the Gardenia Petale . All White Flowers and stunning, though pricy perfumes. Decants or samples can be bought on eBay for testing purposes ,

Chicinwellies · 27/02/2018 17:53

Thank you all - it’s a nice job to do!

Kate Middleton wore illumunium gardenia petals on her wedding day. I can see why as it’s very beautiful, decent sillage and is long lasting

I wore Chanel Mademoiselle- regret it now as I don’t really like it (it’s too sweet and floral for me).

I agree with Fosco’s suggestion about sample sets. Bloom might be a bit too niche though if she’s wearing Chance as that’s a very safe Perfume.

I understand what people are saying about the bride wearing her signature scent, but I think it would be lovely to have a scent which will always remind the bride (and groom) of the wedding day. It is quite amazing what scents can do for a person's memory.

Chanel Gabrielle is lovely - I find it quite light and appropriate for everyday.

Guerlain - Mon Guerlain is amazing. It smells of vanilla and lavender, which feels like quite common scents, but it is quite special. It is not heavy. It is currently my favorite perfume.

Hermes - Jour d'Hermes is very nice too - quite a light, everyday scent, but not boring. To me, it's quite exclusive at the same time.

I'd also suggest the new Prada perfume, and the latest from Chloe. I haven't tried them, but have read very positive reviews.

cupidsabsolutepsyche · 27/02/2018 21:13

Vera Wang the original one for women is talked about on some sites as a wedding perfume. Lovely floral that isn't too sweet after an hour or so. Downside is that it doesn't last that long (on me anyway) on skin but it does on clothes!

What a lovely task to have Smile

pepperpop · 27/02/2018 21:15

I wore Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede layered over Wood Sage and Sea Salt. Smells absolutely beautiful Smile

I also had the Peony & Blush Suede candle burning while I was getting ready, so the smell takes me right back to my wedding day now which is lovely Smile

Bluelady · 27/02/2018 23:36

If money isn't an issue Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady is sumptuous rose, beautiful.

thecatfromjapan · 28/02/2018 01:14

Can she do a day-trip to London and visit the perfume hall in Selfridges?

I love teta's suggestions. A less well-known, white flowers perfume would be lovely - and she's less likely to smell it on other people on the way to work.

Estee Lauder 'Tuberose and Gardenia' and L'Artisan Perfumeur 'Chasse aux Papillons' are two of my favourite white flower scents. But 'California Reverie' is slightly more modern.

If she can get to Harrods, she should try the Ormonde Jayne range and see if there's something wedding-y in there. OJ makes really beautiful, incredibly feminine/womanly perfumes that really are quite special.

thecatfromjapan · 28/02/2018 01:14

Federic Malle 'Magnolia' is radiant, with good sillage.

Hillingdon · 28/02/2018 08:24

Jo Malone English Pear and Fressia. I have always liked JM but those 'free gift' offers recently were too difficult to turn down.

If it was me what about one of the big perfume houses like Guerlain or Dior and look at their older perfumes. Dioressense comes to mind They don't last for 70 years without a reason.

happymummy12345 · 28/02/2018 08:28

I also agree that she should stick to what she usually wears.
My favourite is Angel, I wore that on my wedding day.

crispsahoy · 28/02/2018 08:36

I wore paco rabanne olympea and my dh wore paco rabanne invictus.

A new scent that reminds us of our wedding day

Chicinwellies · 28/02/2018 15:17

We are in West Cornwall - only one Debenhams in our County, and not even a John Lewis until an hour and a halfs drive, so great to receive online recommendations. Thanks

Mine was Byredo Gypsy Water, it's the perfume I get most compliments on and it's not an overpowering scent.
