£200-300 handbag - what would you buy?

Just that, really!

If you had £200-300 to spend, where would you look? I’ve found very few brands sell at this price range, so maybe I don’t know what I’m doing!

I would like real leather, in tan or grey, zip enclosure, ample room to go over my shoulder, a bit of tasteful hardware in gold, plenty of pockets or nooks and crannies for storing stuff. Nothing patterned or too “bling” or emblazoned with logos.

From what I’ve seen so far, I like Lauren Ralph Lauren and Modalu, but I’m sure there’s more!

This is the most money I’ve ever saved up for a handbag, but my current one (£100 from M&S a couple of years ago) is looking very tatty now. I only ever have one handbag at a time, so I would like a slightly better one than I’ve bought in the past.

Guidance much appreciated!

furla is on farfetch and coccinelle at house of fraser

Have a look at De Mellier. I discovered this brand after reading a write up of one of Meghan Markle’s outfits. Found my perfect navy shoulder bag there (mini Berlin) and am lusting after several more

Bigfatpicnic · 24/02/2018 22:17

Oh, lots of lovely ideas on here.
Most of Coach designs are my favourites. They are one of my go to brands.

Talisin · 24/02/2018 22:27

Second the Blondie Mania Petrolina. I’ve had mine around four years and it’s beautiful and still like new. Fair warming though, it’s fairly heavy due to thick leather and hardware.

Check out the sale items at Osprey

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/02/2018 08:06

Coach, Fossil or Osprey.

SleepFreeZone · 25/02/2018 08:07

I would go Fossil too. One day DP has promised to take up one of their shops and let me choose whatever I want ❤️

IMissGin · 25/02/2018 08:12

HAve a look on brand alley- I’d go for coach

Arealhumanbeing · 25/02/2018 13:31

Furla or Marc Jacobs.

TSSDNCOP · 25/02/2018 14:57

Furla or Coach

I find Fossil usually have clumpy bits to them, which otherwise spoils a good design/colour.

LK usually have LK stamped on them which irritates me, which is odd as I have no issue with a little Mulberry tree being stamped on my bags.

Coach or Tory Burch

chocolateiamydrug · 25/02/2018 19:49

another vote for Oushka!

BlueEyedWonder · 25/02/2018 20:07

I think they’re £300+ but I like the APC half moon bags

HildaZelda · 25/02/2018 20:30

Have you looked at Michael Kors? Some nice bags, but a lot of them aren't leather.

Viviene · 25/02/2018 20:58

Coach and Fossil

CorporeSarnie · 25/02/2018 21:04

I've had bags custom made to my spec in this budget by Hillary Johnson www.hilaryjohnsonhandmade.co.uk/home
But also like coach, Marc Jacobs and Kate spade.

JaceLancs · 25/02/2018 22:10

Osprey
Modalu
Jaeger
Whistles
Check out tkmaxx online as well

mercurymaze · 25/02/2018 22:12

i would buy three for about £100 each, wouldn't like to go out with a handbag that cost £300

CointreauVersial · 25/02/2018 22:30

Coach Coach Coach

thefutureisours · 25/02/2018 22:49

Another vote for Coach. I bought a scout hobo in the sale in Jan after seeing it on a thread on mn. I now have 2 Coach bags and I think I may be addicted!

BubblesBuddy · 25/02/2018 23:00

Russell and Bromley. Ralph Lauren or LK Bennett. If you can get to Bicester Village the choice becomes much wider.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 26/02/2018 09:51

I have a pathological hatred of Michael Kors

HunsUnite · 26/02/2018 09:56

I love coach and mulberry.
I got my current mulberry Effie satchel from the outlet store at Cheshire oaks (i believe there's another in the south?) it was £350 but should have been in the region of £600 I think. I've been using it daily for over six months and still looking brand new.

HunsUnite · 26/02/2018 09:58

Ah yes, ^^ Bicester! That's where the other Mulberry outlet is!

peanutbutter310 · 26/02/2018 10:05

I was just about to suggest Bicester! They have Coach, Kate Spade, Furla or Coccinelle which would all be comfortably within budget. As well as some of the higher end designers where you may get a bargain on a smaller over the shoulder bag in that price range.
