Is this appropriate for a wedding?

This dress. I really like the front of it, and I have one of their dresses already, so I know they fit me. But is the backless thing too OTT for a wedding??

Unfortunately I have a tattoo on my lower back and I think it might show, in which case I wouldn’t wear the dress anyway. But if it doesn’t, what’s the general opinion of backless dresses for weddings?

No. The back - or lack of it - makes it look cheap.

It’s not chic and it’s dated. I guess that’s the difference between areas of the country! No one I know would wear that to a wedding. Or anywhere else really.

Just the wedding is in May. If I wear it, I’ll definitely wear something over it for the ceremony, etc. I have a little jacket which I’ve worn to another wedding, or maybe a nice pashmina or something.

It depends on the wedding. If it's very formal/in a church you would have to cover up but otherwise I guess it's fine. I wouldn't be Hmm at seeing something like that a run if the mill wedding.

DontDIY · 23/02/2018 13:37

The whole wedding is taking place in a hotel, so no church.

In what way is it dated Bubbles? It looks like a perfectly nice dress to me (from the front)
I never follow fashion so I wouldn't be able to recognise if something was dated or not.

Eleanorsummer · 23/02/2018 15:27

It isn't dated... I like it Smile

Well, it has arrived. But it’s going back. It is a lovely dress, and my tattoo can’t be seen, but it’s just a little on the tight side and probably a tiny bit shorter on me than on the model (although I’m under 5ft 2 and the description says she 5ft 5, and the range is meant to be for 5ft 3 and under Confused)

I refuse to buy a size 12, and have been trying to lose a few pounds anyway. So I’ll see how I go over then next month or so and maybe try it again from the standard height range.
