High waisted bikini bottoms yey or nay?

In my 20s I'd happily bare all on the beach and float around in tiny bikini bottoms and nothing else. Since I had two whopping babies my poor tummy is a deflated little pouch and I'm way more self conscious about it that I ought to be.

We're off to the south of France in June and I'm looking at all these high waisted bikinis and wondering if they're an accessible way for me to get into a bikini on the beach, or if I'll look like a stumpy woman in a nappy? I'm a fairly fit size 10 but quite short and with a bit of wobble.

Has anyone seen high waisted bikinis on anyone in real life, or are they only worn by size 6 23 year olds on Love Island???

Would you wear a swimsuit?

I find that most of the bikinis bottoms that are designed to hide your tummy really screams that they are for hiding and actually bring more attention to what you are trying to hide!

A well cut swimsuit could work well.

I think they make my bottom look bigger! I would go for a one piece instead. Much more stylish and flattering.

I really like proper high waisted bikini bottoms to smooth over post cs tummy. Like these:
Debenhams

I think they're very unflattering. They just draw attention to what you're trying to hide.

AnnaNimmity · 20/02/2018 13:22

No, they make your arse look huge.

Right. Thanks for the encouragement but the nay-sayers have won it for me, I think they're cooler when you wear them because you can, not because you have to. Off to research one-pieces now!

I just look incredibly dumpy in them being 5'2". Prefer a 'regular' bikini and to let it all hang out...

I do agree that you have to be super slim to wear them and look good, I'm still keeping mine for 2 reasons, one I love them and also I might need surgery and if I do my tummy might not be fully healed in time for when I'm wearing a bikini!!! They are my safety net!

I wear them & love them. Key is height of the whole thing and cut of the bum. Ruching on the front, as long as it’s not loads of material, is v. flattering. I prefer it to hit just above the belly button. I wear mine with a bra size bandeau top.

I got a lovely high waisted bikini set last summer and I love it, I needed it to cover my c section scar as its quite high and I think I will be swapping all my bikinis now to high waisted ones.
