My wonky thyroid has put an end to my eyebrows. I'm 45 and I've not plucked nor waxed them in 4 years. They're getting thinner and shorter.

I pencil them in but wouldn't mind a finer tip to make them
More natural looking.

Any suggestions?

Some tips --

  1. Shop around, ask to see examples of their work.
  1. Don't bargain hunt. This is on your face. It's worth going to the BEST person you can find.
  1. Talk to them about what you want, draw it on with brow pencil, talk to them. If you don't feel 100% comfortable they understand what you want, then don't have them do it.

There seems to be a miss conception that once you've decided to do something about your brows, you show up, are completely silent, and then walk out looking however they think you should look. That wasn't the case for me at all. The person I saw was all about "how do YOU like YOUR brows?" So starting with someone who understands that different women find different brow looks attractive and has the skill to make different looks is important.

Oh also while you're waiting for your appointment, I recently discovered Maybelline and several Korean firms do Brow Tattoo gels. I also have a thyroid issue and my eyebrows are barely there - most of those mascara type of brow gels are useless, and even tinting eyebrows makes no difference, as there are not enough hairs for the tint to stick to. But this gel also tints your skin.
One application and I get a good 3 days of eyebrows out of the Maybelline one, and have ordered some Korean versions to try.

A couple of friends have used the same lady with microblading with mixed results... and for every fab photo I’ve seen the same that don’t look great, that’s what puts me off otherwise I’d love to have it done

If you're taking enough thyroid hormone you should see significant reduction in symptoms, hair loss being one. My eyebrows didn't improve until I got specialist treatment for hypothyroidism. There are other reasons for thinning eyebrows, I suspect age is one.
