Preparation for applying fake tan - your best tips please...x

I haven't used fake tan for prob 10 years or so, cause I was really crap at it and always looked streaky

I am going to give Fake Bake stuff a go, but need some top tips for preparation.

Generally i'm a quick shower in the morning kind of girl rather than an exfoliating, moisturising, preening kind. So some major work is going to be needed I feel...

Shave legs prior but not immediately prior-leave a few hours before application, (otherwise very itchy and can cause a rash).Exfoliate like mad!Apply plenty of body lotion, especially to areas like knees and elbows..but again leave an hour or two between that and fake tan application..Are you doing your face?(cant vouch for this as have never dared do mine), but my friend who is in the know swears by putting a thin layer of vaseline over her eyebrows to stop the fake tan getting too concentrated there and it looking a bit odd...

Oh and dont go near any white upholstery for some time after, just in case!

Good luck, sure you will look fab..

I would suggest a psychiatrist but I can't spell it

CuriousSquid · 02/05/2007 15:25

my advice would be DON'T DO IT!!!

Or get a pro to do it instead!

TheodoresMummy · 02/05/2007 18:56

Actually, getting a pro to do it (certainly the first time) is a good suggestion. Ta. Will have to see if they do the Fake Bake one though. The St Tropez looks so orange on some people and I just know I would be one of them...

Why a Psychiatrist, oliveoil ?

first of all, shave.then exofoliate everywhere.then mosturise-boots do soltan pre fake tan mosturiser specifically for this.

use a spray tan in a bottle-like l'oreal, for example.harder to get wrong.then give it a quick rub in. leave to dry for 5 mins before getting dressed.

use a different product for your face,(nivea do one) but mix one squirt of it with one squirt of a normal facial mosturiser becuase otherwise you will look like you have been tangoed!remember to blend it past your jawline...

and wash your hands!!

Don't do it. You can always tell (can't you?).
Pale is the new interesting.
