I'm in hospital at the moment (not dead thanks to Mumsnet) and I'm starting to feel a whole lot better!

Anyway! I asked DH to bring in some makeup because I wanted to cheer myself up after 5 weeks in hospital. And he's brought in a blusher from Bourgeois that I think is at least 9 years old.. I don't know where he found it as I thought I'd binned it but nope here it is! All shiny and useless! Grin

Then I was thinking about the other makeup I own and my fave eyeshadow palette is one I bought on the plane to Barbados in 2010 so not much younger! 😂

So please- make me feel better about my ancient makeup!

I've been using the same bronzer for at least 5 years and not even hit the pan! Anything except mascara can be used until it's finished IMO, no matter how long it takes Grin

Also, it annoys me how makeup never has a proper expiry date, just "6 months" "12 months" etc... Do they think I'm rain man and can remember the exact date I bought 20+ products?

Ookmybanana · 16/02/2018 02:14

An eye pencil that came in a make up set of my mum's from around 1986 it's turquoise and awesome. She never used them so I liberated them in the 1990s as a teenager. The silver and bronze have long since gone. The silver was particularly good for me in 1997/8. Probably all germy but I've yet to get anything nasty from them.

I have some channel eye shadow I bought for getting married about 15 years ago!! DH got me one of those monthly boxes of makeup stuff, even he must have noticed how crap I am at this. Now I have random stuff arrive every month.

Christmastits · 16/02/2018 02:16

@funkyfunky exactly!! The eyeshadow palette is urban decay and it's amazing! It was such good value for duty free!

Only sad bit is when they run out as 99% of the colours have been discontinued!

I have a Body Shop lipstick which must about 15 years old. I know it precedes my husband of 14 years anyway. Still in perfect working order....shame about the husband (badoom tschhh Wink).

Christmastits · 16/02/2018 02:19

@Desperatelyseekingsun you have a great DH I think mine just emptied the drawer I keep all the shitty bitty makeup in- my fault I should have been more specific!

But I'm actually really please as it means I might be able to go home soon if I'm okay enough to put makeup on and go for walks :)

Ive got a fair bit from when I lived abroad in 2002 and developed a Sephora habit.

Ookmybanana · 16/02/2018 02:35

I still remember the cover on the box of the make up set with a stylised woman with big swooshes of eye shadow and bright lips. I've never been "good" at make up and I can't wear the bright, bright colours that I used to be able to (I'm looking at you urban decay) as they seem very dated and age me. Sigh. I did get some coffee shimmer lipstick last year to relive the old days. I still feel ridiculous in lipstick. Fortunately I'm on maternity leave a so rarely see other humans!

I have a Chanel 2000 eyeshadow. Hasn’t been used as it’s millennium related.

I also until recently had a kohl pencil in brown which I got from the Mizz magazine as a free gift, some 28 years ago Blush

ZacharyQuack · 16/02/2018 04:26

I have some Bobbi Brown eyeshadows and blush that I purchased in 1995.

AdultHumanFemale · 16/02/2018 04:33

A NARS Malibu bronzer from 2000, which is lovely, but as I'm not a fan of make up which goes anywhere apart from around my eyes, this particular product has been undeservedly neglected. I use it once in a blue moon and always think "Gosh, I really ought to use this more often!" And I never do.

SharonBottsPoundOfGrapes · 16/02/2018 09:47

I have lip scuff from the body shop that's over 20 years old. It's still got a third left.
